Hi all,
 
My first time at something like this but the pics don't lie (frankly I'm disgusted, I must have stopped looking in the mirror a long time ago!!)  and after years of cyclical yoyoing I need to get sorted. No excuses this time!
 
All the stats are in the picture, I will post up details of diet as I get it nailed but aiming for 1800kcal per day, lowering carbs (but not eliminating them as I struggle big time) and most of all cutting out the crap, which includes the wine and beer!
 
Exercise will mainly be using Concept 2 6x per week + stronglifts 5x5. Mix in a the odd swim and jogging in the second half of the contest (I want to do 5k by the end of the 12 weeks).
 
Really looking forward to reading about others prgress along the way and being part of the community.

      So first week out of the way and feeling so much better already.
      First few days was hard due to decrease in calories and the withdrawl from all the crap I have been eating. After day 3 felt much better, appetitie more under control and feeling a little more energised.
       
      Diet broadly as follows;
      2 scambled eggs on 1 slice of granary
      fruit and natural yoghurt (snack)
      green salad with fish (tuna or sardines)
      oatcakes
      dinner with family (chili & rice, meatloaf, chicken curry, pasta and chicken etc etc) watching calories and portion size.
      about 1800kcal per day which seems fine. Should give me approx 2500kcal to 3000kcal per day deficit depending on activity levels.
      5 x 20m sessions on the concept 2 was plenty.Can't quite believe how unfit I am again!
      Net result was a 13lb first week loss. Pleased, but well aware that most is water (i am much less bloated) so need to push on. I've been here many many times before but hoping to maintain 3-4lbs per week and get down to a new 10 year low by the end of the SUC.

        Thats one hell of a drop mate, should see some great progress over the coming weeks, good stuff!
        Its never to late to become what you might have been !

          Thanks for poping in Hoppy and the encouragement.
          Think at least half of the loss was water but happy all the same, I just need to keep it up now! I always start with the best of intentions and then.....!
          At the moment just coming back into this thread and looking at those awful pictures is all the motivation i need>
