well yeah, i don't incorprate the 7 day rest bull**** to my routine, i basically train on the principles of using a weight that i can lift 5 reps and maybe a forced 6th rep, until i cant do 3 reps then ill drop the weight down and repeat until i hit true muscle fatigue. im basically using his deplete the muscle of all its reserve energy formula but in my training style. rest i train each muscle group once per week as i usually have doms until the 3rd day after training, so theres always at least one muscle group on my body suffering from doms lol

Indeed he does LOL Thats like what I do. I find a weight I can only do 5-6 lifts with, then fight with rage to complete an additional rep. Then I break for about 20 seconds to catch my breath, and try it again. And to me, thats that body part worked well. And it takes what, a few minutes? For example Id do this in this order, and repeat it over once more, and consider myself worked: Biceps: 6 reps + 1 raged rep Biceps: 5 reps + 1 raged rep Chest: 7 reps Chest: 6 reps Triceps: 5 reps + 1 raged rep Triceps: 5 reps + 1 raged rep.

arrghh see liebow i train different to you, say for example i was doing incline dumbell press i would do a 5x5 as best as i can say set 1 i might get 5 and a struggled 6 and that again for set 2+3 then set 4+5 i might get 4 and a struggled 5th then ill lower by a few kilo and do to failure, lower again and do to failure until eventually a 10kg dumbell on incline press is like lifting a planet lol. then ill take that to negative and then to me that is complete failure and the muscle group exhausted. and Coop yes it works, everybody is different though, i used to train with 8-10 reps per set but have gained ALOT more strength and size with lower rep ranges.

Look at the Terminators workout and most was volume, some 5x5 but only one movement in a set. If you progressively overload your muscle, whether you use volume or go heavy you'll grow. I prefer to mix it up to keep the body guessing and growing rather that stick with a workout that works for someone else. Minger

I'm. Or mearly sticking to a routine that works for someone else. Now if I used Arnold's methods and go with higher volume, then I would be using what works for someone else. Everybodies make up is different and one variation of training could add 10lb lean tissue a year to one guy and only 5lb to another if everything else was a constant other than training. I tried high volume for a year, I think I gave it it's chance, whereas high intensity with very short resting I have seen major improvements. Different subjet but: You see guys in my gym pushing out say 70% their maximum, why? Just so they can do 8-10 reps, by their 4/5 set they can still push out 8-10 reps lol, they don't break a sweat as the effort is minimal (constantly having conversation with their friends, texting, etc etc. These guys never grow. Any of you guys have these people in your gym?

There is a lot of Merritt to volume training as well as heavy, volume helps strengthen the tendons for when you go heavy and helps keep you from getting injured. Heavy is awsome as it helps you grow and overload. I go heavy when I can but I make damn sure I don't get injured I've seen some nasty injuries in the gym from people using their ego instead of their head! I love 5x5 training shame my joints don't lol

I mix it up don't get me wrong as after my heavy low reps which lasts about 8 weeks I have a couple of weeks With high volume, obviously there's both the fast and slow twitch fibres I need to stimulate. And touch wood I've never had a MAJOR accident yet, just a sore wrist etc from time to time

i personally am finding stronglifts as nothing short of brilliant. every week my lifts are going from strength to strength. progressing a lot quicker than i have over the past few years training with 3day split. tri/chest. back/bi. legs/shoulders. ab work thrown in every session. But they do say a change is as good as a rest don't they.
