First show - Should I hold off this year
25 October 2011 15:06
( permalink)
Hello MT, I am going to compete in the BNBF either this year or next year in the junior division. It'd just have been my 20th birthday in june 2012 which is the same month of the contest, my stats are: 6ft 200lb 13%, so at a guess I would say I would come in contest at around 6ft 170-ish 6%. Just wondering whether to hold off and compete in june 2013, imagine that kind of contest weight. Would it be worth skipping 6 months bulking to diet down for it? Many thanks

Stats mean bugger all mate, if you're serious about competing and don't have an experienced competitor (either natural or not) at your gym etc... then post a few pictures on here, and you'll get some honest opinions

Fair enough mate, although some of the natty competitors on here may have a better idea. When I competed you had good juniors at your weight, and obviously some much heavier but most would have had higher BF levels. I'd say at your height at very low (5-6%bf) BF levels you'll not see any juniors much over 13 stone.

6 foot is tall for a bber these days so you need some size or you ll be up against a 5foot 2 guy looking so much bigger...those long legs could look painfully thin ...but if its in your mind saying" wait 3 years ....." you wont so enter its great anyway

I'm not really sure I understand the difference between bulk and full bulk here...? I think the advice of waiting til Jan to see how you look is sound advice. I'd also say, you never really have a clue of how you'll look until you diet down anyway, so if it were me, I'd start the diet, and see what happens when I strip it all away...
