But if it gets me back on track, a track, any track but the dominoes, stilton and red wine track?...

I am LOVING IT!
GREAT circuit last night, amanged 4 x's through! (4got to say 12reps of each excercise)
No way walkies are happening after that at mo. Knackered.com!
Taking it gently gently not to overload my will power and ability to change/soak up new habits. So have knocked the Tues+Thurs on the head too! BUT have stuck to diet religiously! So lets see what happens Sat weigh in, then I can evaluate. But I even feel more positive about going out, meal wise, on this diet, that I can go for it with a huge steak, hold the carbs and that doesn't count as my cheat! That feels really liberating to me, otherwise I worry about wieght of steak or making it my cheat, when I might not want it to be. Not that this kindov stratedgy would work every week by any means but the whole concept seems to have put me in a more relaxed place about dieting and feeling more in control.
I was starting to panick about Easter and our week's hols, but I'm not so much now.
And that can't be bad!?
xx

If it works Fi then that's great... Only thing I will say it doesn't sound like it's the type of routine that will get you back on stage but it all depends on your goals x

Stop arsing about is all I've got to say. You made the biggest transformation anyone has in such a short space of time on this forum 2 years ago. Having been there, done that in the sense of comfort eating or drinking - ok I was an alcoholic and you aren't but I do understand what food/alcohol control/lack of control means. Well I found the best way was to (a) get on with it, (b) stick with it and (c) post a journal about it and not be ashamed.

Biggest mistakes I've learned is not getting on with it, looking for quick fix and making too many rules and regulations. Just plodding, keeping a good weight training routine plus good old cardio of moderate amounts, whilst phasing out Dominos and chocolate whilst making your own choices.......but only succumbing when you really need to, to the point where you stop fixating, stop obsessing that's the way I think is good.

.....not be ashamed.

LoL, careful I am hugely hormonal & emotional at mo, I may need to get some air now! Both for the chastising and the big up
....Big problem for me at mo, that I am really struggling with

But I have slept on it and my mind’s made up, please move me.
I not a competitor at the mo and I’m not convinced I do want to return to the stage, ever. If I do I’m pretty sure I want to be figure and with the new over 40 masters that would mean 2014 anyhoo. So my journal is better in the non-competitors for now.

I’m more determined than ever to find a diet/training/life balance that works for me. My mind was stuck on psychotic prep being the only way for me to get in shape, but that can’t be THE only way. It’s not healthy either physically or mentally for me at the moment. I need more balance both for me and for Mark. I’m not blindly following this new regime I do have/I am using some common sense.
I do realize that I may need to up my game to get where I want to get and I will. But instead of setting myself unrealistic goals I’m going to take this one very gently so I stay on track. When I set these unrealistic goals, and then fail, beat myself up badly AND then break the diet cos; ‘what’s the point it’s ****ed now anyhow!”. When I do introduce them I’m going to be introducing 1 am walk each week, rather than saying right am walks x5 am’s, not doing them and then beating myself up for not doing them! That is a so counterproductive for me at the moment rather than just saying nope, not doing it and then achieving what I set out not to do, know what I mean. Tied in with that is that 'we' can only (re-)learn so many new habits at one time. Everything’s so outov whack at the mo that I have to introduce the new habits slowly to give them a fair chance of sticking, at the moment that has to be diet, cos without that everything else is a waste of time.
So this isn’t a whim, I have been giving this some thought, thank you all for your input and I hope you’ll still visit/check up on me.
xx

To make you feel a little better, it's not the only way, definitely not.

There is light at the end of the tunnel, I promise you Fi. Of all the women I've helped I've NEVER put any through the rigmarole of contest prep and yet they've gotten to a place they're happy, so there IS a way...

I'm always here to support you, as GN said, there's no magic cure there, so it's just doing it gently and in a way that makes it feasible for you to stick to.

TeeHee!
Not a lot happening is the reason for not posting, well not strictly true, lots has happened, but not of the dieting training sort! Been having some time out to work out my game plan & enjoying time with Mark, he's been test driving fast cars, it been EXTREMELY good fun!
And it has worked I’m starting to feel the stirrings of wanting to kick ass again! The extra daylight has really helped too.
Been thinking about/trying different ‘meals’, Mark & I have been reading up on concentrate vs isolate whey.  Concentrate has a LOT more lactose content than isolate, can’t remember figs but it was a BIG diff ! I am aware of having an intolerance.  I don’t feel the need to have shakes in my diet, with not training heavy at mo, but have a lot of protein powder to use up, of course it turns out that I have concentrate!  Had 2 shakes as am+arvo meals on Mon, Oh dear no, faaar too much lactose, my poor sore tummy  I also have some Pea protein that I thought could be a solution to the lactose issue, but it’s RANK!  So yesterday I mixed half and half, result! No discomfort  Popped in some of MYP flavoured drops too, wasn’t a shake to savour, but was ‘downable’!
Exercise is just the 3 circuits a week; Mon+Wed+Fri at mo, this isn’t due to increase of any significance until after my hols (start of May).
Very excited on a couple of orders due to arrive this week; Bare-Naked-Noodles & Quest Protein Bars.
The Noodles are a big hit with kitty the are ULTRA low carb, and I think could be my w/e+pm saviour. The protein bars are recommended by flick & Vicky Bradly, again really low carb. I don’t plan to have them as a regular part of diet, just something to save me from a big ole cake disaster in Costa with mark of a w/e!
So my diet on an ideal day is going to look like this:
8am - Breakii: 2 eggs made up to 250ml with liquid whites, scrambled with 50g rice (cooked weight)
11am - AM meal: shake+berries
1.30pm - Lunch: Salad (leaves+cucumber+toms+beetroot) +tuna pattie (100g tuna - I found a recipe on here for tuna burgers/patties, NOM! Just tuna+red onion, seasoned held together with a beaten egg) +apple or pear
PM meal: shake+berries
Dinner: Salad+meat+apple or pear
Right must dash, I can hear a GnT calling me to the hot-tub!
xx

Meh  total mare with the Quest on-line order last night, had an on-line chat with a rep but couldn't get order to complete due to an error on the delivery address?
Have ordered some Maximuscle ProMaxDiet Bars today instead from discount supps. Really wanted the Quest bars but was going to have to place a hefty order to get shipping costs down and with the hassle... I know I LOVE the maximuscle bars so, cheaper and easier, and defo something to look forward to of a w/e when we're out for a coffee.
Erm... I've got an interview!  agencies still have my details from situ last year and there's a new position been created at a co. I was very interested in working at at the time last year. Spoke to the agency 5pm Fri and by 6pm the co. had already called and booked an interview! So that's a great boost to my confidence if nothing else, they've even agreed 6pm so I don't have to take time of work  Its along the road in Kingston s'only 30mins, not the 7min commute I have at mo, but better pay (tho would be eaten up with extra fuel/parking costs), pension and opportinities so worth a converstaion or two to see if they like me.

Protein bars, I'm not very good with them at all BUT they are better than chocolate bars although much more expensive.

It was once suggested the 'sugar alcohols' in them that render them 'lo-carb' could set off cravings for real alcohol. Don't know how true that is/was but I'm weaned off them now.

Will be watching and hoping for a nice slow plod from you missus, it can be done as you know.

Really? I didn't know that...
One thing about sugar alcohols (and I'm surprised you eat these bars for this reason Fi bearing in mind you have intolerance/tummy issues) is they bloat you!  Same in chewing gum, fizzy drinks and sweetener.
They are indigestible matter so the tummy doesn't react well to them...

Ooo, I did not know that! Have to say, I've not noticed bloat, no more so than the sugar from a piece of cake would generate!?

So, '1st' interview went well, but the position is not for me.
I could so do the job and I think I'd be good at it and enjoy it, but not only does the starting salary cause me financial concerns but so too does the salary expectation of the role. We had quite a relaxed talk and they don't really know where the role is going but don't see the salary band reaching my expectations of where I'd like to think I could be in 5 years time.
I can very much see how to progress my career to get there with my current type of roles, but this was a fairly unique more sales-y role, I'm not sure it's a move that's right for me. The travel and expense was a big concern too, public transport could be done, but would cost me £200+ a month and about an hour vs my current 7minute drive door-2-door (or planned bike ride). Shame as they seem like a bright young energetic friendly co. which is what was drawing me to them.
However, another brief interview was had last thurs pm! Similar role, better pay, better benefits, 20min drive, just waiting to hear from them.

No training or diet update as nothing has been done!
