Thanks mate. Dosed up on a cocktail of Beechams, protein shakes, hot orange juice & honey with plastic squeezy lemon, milk and whiskey. Fuk it.

Re: Floydy: Training for Tenerife 2016/04/23 17:18:06 (permalink)
Great. Cold dried up and back to the gym. But wtf do you do if you’ve been out of action a sodding week? Carry on where you left off, that’s what.
Really into legs training lately so I decided to capitalise on that. I didn’t go too heavy (though I did manage a PB on the ‘fluff’ stuff later on as you’ll see), but concentrated on the basics of getting those quads back into the land of the living. Here we go…

Saturday 23/4/16 – Legs:

1. Hack squat:
12x100 warm-up
8x150 – 4 sets
5x200 – 4 sets
*Never started off on squats before, but I was waiting bloody ages for the incline press, so had to do something. Sodding place was rammed today.

2. Seated (horizontal) press:
10x200 – 4 sets
*Full stack from the off. Piece of p!ss, feels so easy now.

3. Incline press:
6x250 – 4 sets
25x150 high reps
*By this time I was very frustrated at hanging around so I virtually ordered three skinny students off the machine. They had been malingering around it since I got to the gym on their phones, so enough was enough. Floydy comes along, loses it (unlike me) and just says “have you finished on here OR WHAT??”. “Sorry mate, they said – terrified of my demonic stare, and they went on their way”. Cts all. These specky twats are going to be running my country one day. Says it all!
Anyway, so now I’d lost my ‘mantra’ and curtailed the press at 250x4, wanted so dearly to go massive today, but I was boiling

4. Reverse leg curl, seated:
6x70 – 4 sets
3x75
3x80
3x85
3x90
3x95 (former PB)
Went for the b’stard…and…
3x100 full stack PB
*Whether or not it was the result of me being soooo angry at those nerds earlier on which fuelled my rage to produce some extra-terrestrial latent superstrength, I don’t know. But the stack was conquered for the first time. Back of the quads raging with power. Gotta love this stuff, haven’t you?
Felt like going and finding those geeks and buying them a coffee for unveiling some unearthly hidden might. Happy as a sandboy after that!

10. Ab crunches:
50x40
20x50

Rewarded myself with four pints of Wetherspoon’s best guest ales after that little lot.

Thanks for reading, hope your enjoying your weekends.

Haha, yis I know mate. I was pretty livid and people were keeping their distance for a while. Imagine that: A silly old b'stard like me and all those young, fit roidheads edging away. I'm never that possessed honest!

There's that one. Then there's the one where they come up to you and ask if you are using the dumbbell you just put by your foot and are guarding with your life. You say yes. They look at you like the biggest arsehole of an inconvenience in their whole life.

Ha! I know. It's as if their life depended on using that one particular piece of kit. Why can't they just change their routine a bit and come back later on?

Good weights being shifted there, impressed by a 250 incline. Though being English I clearly have to change the lbs to kg....

English too mate, Hull lad born and bred Weird thing is though all the weights in my journal are in kgs, I still work in inches (and pints at the weekend).
250 is mid-range for me really; sometimes it's just as good to do more reps at maybe a two-thirds of a max instead of burning oneself out stupidly going full balls out all the time. Bit of both, depends how I'm feeling at the time tbh

Re: Floydy: Training for Tenerife 2016/04/26 16:20:37 (permalink)
Mid-week chest+tri’s session then, and to be honest I should have done this yesterday but I was too busy with stuff at home (i.e. making up Bowie CDs with my Nero programme). So with this extended gap since my last workout the strength and energy was lacking a little and I really had to delve into any reserves I had to hit any kind of performance. Made the most of it though and felt nicely pumped at the end…

Tuesday 26/4/16 – Chest+tri’s:

1. Bench:
20xbar warm-up
6x50
5x60 – 2 sets
5x70 – 2 sets
3x75
3x80
*Grip on this was somewhere between shoulder width and fairly close, so that adds some extra tension to the sets.

2. Smith incline medley:
60°: 6x40, 6x45
45°: 6x50, 6x55
30°: 6x65
15°: 3x70
*Missed out the 60kg in error and it threw me a bit. Didn’t bother with my normal flat presses at the end as I’d already done the bench work earlier on. Hit the shoulders big time on this exercise which will no doubt provide a nicely stiff neck tonight.

3. Chest press (stack version):
6x70 – 3 sets (no rest between)
4x80 – 3 sets (30 secs rest between)
25x50 high reps
15x60 high reps
*The hardest things here were the high reps at the end; don’t normally go that heavy with those. But as they say “I started so I’ll finish” and by gum, the triceps were throbbing.

4. Incline chest press (plates):
10x40 – 2 sets
*Curtailed this. My triceps told me that was enough pressing for one day. Poor things, I was putting them through Hell.

5. Triceps pulldowns (against backrest, pull down in front):
15x30
12x35
5x40
5x45
4x50
*Arms were screaming for mercy by now, but my head wasn’t having any of that. No can do I’m afraid…

6. Triceps extensions (stack machine):
25x30 high reps
15x35 high reps

7. Single DB raise, lying flat bench (interlocked hands under inner end):
25x36 high reps
15x42 high reps

8. Ab crunches:
50x40
20x50

Time: 1hr. 15mins.

My chest doesn’t really change very much on this sort of work, I need to go heavier with lower reps but all went pretty well with a nice pair of house bricks added to the back of the arms
Legs tomorrow, and I'll be going mega-heavy with it.

Thanks for reading chaps.
