Russ_Turner dazc who cares if renault leave. there are plenty of teams, and more coming in now that f1 is getting slightly cheaper to compete in with the rule changes. Their fans, Red Bull who use their engines, their employees! dazc in fact i really think renault leaving would be a good thing, its them and viatore (even though hes now gone) that always seemed to be causing trouble or stamping their feet with threats about not getting what they wanted. Renault are one of the quieter teams on the grid and Flav is best mates with Bernie. dazc in fact i think they should get a years ban from the sport for such a dangerous stunt, that could have cost lives and done huge damage. Let other people take their space on what will be a full grid next year. Nice one genius... and I suppose the 400 people they have working for them should all go down the job centre eh? #478 Not a great post. Red Bull are looking elsewhere next year to take their engines from another manufacturer. Renault maybe quiet on the grid, but, their relations with the top people of the FIA and Bernie (wonder dick) is a bad way to have things and has notibly pushed to have things their own way, didnt they buy a football team together?...not the best practice for the sport. 400 people?..where do you get that figure?, tech, engineers etc etc doesnt come to 400, most of them already work for them in some other capacity, not all of them are hired for just F1 design, tho alot are, but we are jsut talking a season ban, I think thats light all things considered, they cheated in the worst way possible, and did their best to cover their tracks about it, never mind the potential lives at stake on that kind of track where you CANT avoid other cars by turning off into the gravel.

Doesn't look good for the future of Spa http://f1.gpupdate.net/...s-right-to-host-f1-race/ I defies believe that you can hold a GP in the middle of Melbourne or Monte Carlo and it's not a problem, but one in the middle of a forest in Belgium oh no you can do that. I hate NIMBYs, the track was there long before they were.

COuldnt give a sh!t about the shole things after the Renault ruling..or...a severe lack of one, the FIA can go fcuk itself after that, sooner the manufactureers start getting their own act to gether and tell the FIA to f off the better.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/s.../formula_one/8272812.stm Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone says he thinks Flavio Briatore's indefinite ban for race-fixing is too severe. The ex-Renault boss was punished for his role in ordering Nelson Piquet to crash in 2008's Singapore Grand Prix. But Ecclestone, who was part of the hearing that dealt with the case, now feels the ban is harsh and has urged Briatore to appeal against it. "On reflection it wasn't necessary. It was too much. Definitely too much," said the 78-year-old Ecclestone. "I don't think it was necessary, but I was on the commission so I'm probably just as guilty as anybody." Ecclestone and Briatore are friends as well as business partners, having bought Championship football side Queens Park Rangers, along with steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal, in 2007. And Ecclestone admitted his part in Briatore's ban had affected their friendship. "He's not talking to me. He thinks I should have defended him, which I couldn't," said the billionaire.

Renault just got the suspended ban didn't they? No loss of points as per Maclaren last year for the whole spying thing. After all, a bit of spying is far worse than risking death or injury to drivers/official/fans and basically rigging a race outcome.

Totally agree, I think criminal charges should of been brought against those like Flavio Briatore etc.. who planned this and knew about this. The driver could of been injured/killed.

Well Bernie is/was good friends with some top guys running the team. I think the FIA were also afraid Renault would just pull out. McLaren were in a different positon, not really a car maker as such ( exluding a very expensive sports car ), and had nothing else to fall back on really.

I can understand from that perspective the decision not to outright ban them but to let them stay in the championship as far as points etc go... odd

I mean if McLaren pull out of F1, McClaren would probably cease to exist as its main business is F1. Renault could afford to pull out and it would probably save Renault money and not affect its business much if at all, as they are only in it for the prestige. Either team pulling out would be a loss to F1, but F1 knows it would be much more difficult for McLaren to pull out.

Umm well considering McClaren are really Mercedes and they do all their sports model of their cars, which are about the only thing still selling for them, they dont really worry about the F1 budget of things...but they are sure fire as hell wanting the contructers and driver championship reign again.

Well I think I'm completely over the news of Schumacher cancelling his comeback and I can start talking about F1 again LoL. I think the FIA cut a very lenient deal with Renault, simply because they don't want to lose another manufacturer.

cu3ed Im glad you can talk about it again lol, cause I couldnt be arsed watchig it anymore...if this is the kinda sh!t thats going on publically, fcuk knows whats REALLY going on behind the scenes. That's part of the show dude. A £5 Billion a year industry there is going to be politics, backstabbing, shafting and plenty of manouvering. I see it as the Max and Bernie show. When Crashgate first exploded onto the world's media every major newspaper had a "Crashgate" lift out section. Bernie would have had his hand on it the whole time. Racing has been hard to believe this season, Brawn and Red Bull have got the two best designers in the pitlane so that was OK, but now Force India? WTF? Who goes from Zero to Hero in 1 season? Is romance back in F1? Is car design a black art once more where one man truly can make a difference? You'll be watching again mate, you're just a little pissed off.

He was Webbers no.2 mech on the rear of the car and had been there for five years since they were Jag so think he knows what he is talking about. Their resurgence started when Renault were allowed to equalize their engine outside of the engine freeze as allowed by the other teams in the pit lane. Have you been watching a diferent series?

Interesting Qualifying... Anyone else watching? Game over for Vettel now. Should be a good race tomorrow now with Reubens needing to do well to snatch it. Just when it was looking good that Hamiltons dad doesnt get on the tv anymore and John Button steps forward again...

Its good to have a British driver as world champion but as ive said many times, im not a Button fan. Either way it has been a very entertaining end to the season after the boring Brawn precession of the first 7-8 races... Roll on next year now with Alonso in a (hopefully competitive) Ferrari. The Abu Dhabi season closer looks a good circuit, its just a pity thats theres nothing left to race for other than a race win.

I think people have nothing to win or lose so might have fun and go for it. No idea if the circuit might be any good for overtaking.

You cant exactly blame the guy though. If Ferrari offered to pay him that then thats their fault! It is a stupid price though, even more so if you believe what Button was supposedly on. £3m a year or something..??

Button was on about 8 and rubens on 5 IIRC. But a 10m difference this year and you are still asking for close to double what the top drivers (ahead of you) got
