Very strange incident today but it just shows how anything can happen in motorsport.

Im over the moon and the possibilities for the race tomorrow. Alonso back in the mix with Mclaren now having a reasonable car aswell. I still believe the championship is as good as over and Button has it all but boxed off. Closer racing will make it a little harder and seeing 3-4 different teams battling it away rather than 1-2 makes far more exciting viewing

i think its going to be very close mate, i think this championship could well be right down to the last race.

vettel and webber will be the ones that stop each other challenging button though, as they will take point off each other.  were RBR to use team orders and decide on a driver, then they would have a very real chance of taking it.  hopefully they will let the drivers drive though, i have seeing races under team orders,  team mate battles are some of the best ones!

i think brawn will have the constructors championship with RBR very close behind. pleased about this, as i think ross brawn is a very good guy, i have huge respect for him

Surely you all all heard about Surtees' death? Very similar thing happened to Massa, except in Surtees case it was a tire and knocked him completely unconcious, scary stuff.

just heard on the news, massa had to have what they called 'emergency brain surgery'

hope hes ok, and makes a full recovery.

Can only imagine what would have happened if the piece of metal had been a couple of inches to the letf and hit his visor rather than his helmet

going to be an interesting race, look how much lighter the renault was, so they wont have the race pace, and are running a 3 stopper, i think they will be down in 5th or 6th by the finish at least.  Looks like a new strategy for brawn, being slightly heavier than they normally are compared to the others

Thoughts definately go out to Filipe. Nasty accident and very lucky too considering.

Great race and great for McC and Hamilton. Brawn need to do some work or they could see the championship slip from their hands unless a) Webber and Vittel mix it up too much or b) Renault/McC take up a few top spots

BUT..... how the hell did Red Bull not get any sort of fine or penalty for releasing Webber into Raikonnen's path. Rediculous. IIRC even Ferrari (Massa oddly enough) got stung for that last year.

Does anyone else think Button is moaning again about his car too much?
I originally disliked him due his constant moaning about his car/team in the past. When he started winning he stopped moaning and seemed a nicer fella. A few bad races and the Jenson Button of old is back.
I know the car is everything but no one else moans like he does. Hamilton hasnt moaned anywhere near as much and that is with going from a world championship winning car....

Presuming Massa will eventually make it back into the car, who will be his stop gap until then? They dont always use test drivers in such circumstances or do they? Badoer and Gene simply will not do the job imo.... (are they still the test drivers anyway..?)
Im trying to think who else could be used who currently doesnt have a drive. Schumacher...???? (joke....)

Button moaning.... I don't think so, he's asked so he has to answer. Hamilton was often saying how the car wasn't competative, was bad to drive etc etc and now Button is saying that the developements to his car are not for the best. That's fair enough IMHO.

No idea who Ferrari will use, if they use anyone. Dunno who their testers are or if they have anyone paid up going thru the ranks..... Bourdais needs a drive tho

Ive had a look about and marc gene and luca badoer are still the test drivers for ferrari. Id be amazed if either start a race!!! I also dont believe Ferrari will not field 2 cars at the remaming races without Massa. Sponsorship etc surely must interfear with this.
If i had to take a punt on someone who might fill in for a few races with experience the short list is very very small mid season! Villeneuve?

maybe schumacher will return, hes at all the races. . .  oh wait, no that means he wouldnt have the best car on the grid by a mile, so wouldnt be able to win.  so no chance of that

button gets asked about the car so answers, i dont think hes moaning anymore than anyone else has been.

No way would they use someone who hasn't sat in a Grand Prix car for about four years over one of their test drivers. As much as I would love to see Schuey dig his overals out I do not believe that he is registered as a reserve driver. Personally I think Badoer or Gene will step in. Most likely Gene IMO.

Scary and tragic the two accident in Motorsport this week. No matter what you do it's very hard to make anything 100% safe.

My dad mentioned the Surtees accident on the phone to me shortly after he heard about it the other day. He worked for John Surtees back in the late 60s and that job was largely what inspired him to go on and design and build a Formula 1 car back in the day.

Love knowing that my dad did that on a shoestring budget. Is a great story to tell

That's off another site and i have a copy of some different details of exactly what they got up to.

It's my dad though and i'm incredibly proud of what he managed to achieve
