From Fat Lad To Bodybuilder

Well the decision has been made. I'm gonna be competing next year.

Just a bit about my self for those who are interested.

I started training 7 years ago just to lose weight. I started off at 19st 11lbs at 39% bodyfat.

I am currently 13st 7lbs at around 17% bf.

I have trained 5 days a week for the last 5 years now and recently I've been getting so tired and bored with training I couldn't get motivated. I still however pushed through and still trained.

After talking with the wife and close friends they said I need a challenge so I decided to compete next year.

It is something I always was interested in but I thought I was just to fat to ever get anywhere near stage condition.

I spoke to a friend of mine who is a natty bodybuilder and pt. He has agreed to help me from start to finish with everything from diet to training and even cardio.

Since agreeing to do the shows my motivation has been immense. I'm just buzzing.

I'm really looking forward to this challenge and I hope a few of you will follow me on my journey.

This journal will be used to log my progress, diet and training routines.

Any help and advice you want or have please ask and I will do my best to answer it or take it on board. Plus all the motivational talks you can give me closer to the shows will be greatfully received.

Thanks in advance.

Well my new heart rate monitor has arrived today so gonna test it on whilst doing cardio tonight.

Bit gutted my massive myprotein order hasn't turned up. Well 1 thing has. The other 7 items were dispatched on a different day for some reason.

Shoulder day today but gotta get some food in me first. Will post up the routine later.

Good luck with this.  To go from near 20 stone to stepping on stage would be an amazing achievement.

Well my new shoulder and leg workout must be working because the doms I have is probably the worst I have ever felt.

Can't lift me arms above my head and struggling to sit down. Once I'm say down I can't get back up.

Still as they say "no pain, no gain"

Chest and biceps tonight. Actually really looking forward to it. Definitely got the buzz back.

All my supps turned up yesterday. So today is my first full day with new diet and supps.

Had some crazy dreams off the ZMA but its something to laugh at when I wake up in the morning lol.

Well not been on here for a while. So I thought I best do a quick update.

I'm 6 weeks into the diet and have dropped to 13st 3lbs. I am looking a lot leaner and can just about see my abs in the right light lol.

Started 20g of glutamine and 10g of creatine mono per day so hopefully will see some small strength gains.

Really fancy doing another pro hormone cycle. Been researching dragon nutritions products. Fancy a pro-sd and pro-tren stack. If anyone has any info on these I would be grateful.

Just had my re-feed meal a 12" meat feast pizza. Feeling pretty stuffed now.

Gonna do some fasted cardio in the morning. Feeling a bit guilty.

I've stuck to my diet 100% with only one re-feed meal per week. Still doing at least 30 mins cardio after my weight sessions burning about 350 cals according to my hr monitor.

Well I'm gonna curl up on the couch and relax. See you all soon.

Morning cardio done today. 30 mins slow jog keeping heart rate around 130bpm. Was really easy compare to what I was used to. 30mins flew by.

I have managed to upload photos to imageshack but can't copy the link on my iPhone or ipad. Will have to do it when I dig the laptop out later on.

Well another training session closer to my Xmas week off.

Was shoulders and triceps this afternoon followed by 30mins of cardio. I've started to get a bit if tendinitis in my left hand and a sore right elbow so it's deffinatley time for a training break.

Decided I'm gonna finish on the 21st December and return on the 2nd of January. I'm gonna still try to get morning cardio sessions in just have time off weights.

My diet is gonna be a bit more relaxed and I'm hoping the slight raise in calories will help me recover ready for the next 5 months before I make a decision on what show to do.

Will keep you all informed on my progress though.

Well another fasted cardio jog done.

Feeling pretty tired today so gonna put my feet up and watch a film before hitting the gym for a mad leg session

Just taken delivery of my supps for next month. Thought I would get a back up so minor messing about over Christmas and new year. In my reserve stash I have 2.5kg wms, 1kg glutamine, 1kg caesine, 500g mp pulse, 3 tubs of ZMA, 2.5kg of whey.

Gonna give pulse a try today before my leg workout. I'm not a big fan of pre work out stuff but I thought I would give it s try as I had s mp discount code.

Taken some more pictures today but had to do them on my own as the misses was at work. I will get all the pictures up later on today if I get chance.

Nice 1 hour fasted cardio session this morning. Went up Rivington with the dog.

Power walked up to the top of the pike and the ran back down. According to my hr monitor it was 600 cals burned.

Mid week weigh in this morning puts me at 13st 2lbs. That's the lightest I've been since starting training 7 years ago.

Gonna get some food in then go and smash the chest and biceps this afternoon.
