Garlic 12 January 2012 12:40 (permalink)
Is it ok to eat lots of this stuff for is there an amount one should stick to. The reason why i ask this is ive started eating choped up raw cloves of garlic twice a day. Ive read about the health benifits of this stuff and want to continue eating it everyday for "the" rest of my life because its so easy to do. Im taking my like a supplement, i get the clove ,chopd it to a few parts then down it with a glass of water. Im wanting to know how much of it would be sencisble to eat per day

I don't know of anything derogatory about garlic (aside from the stinking breath) - I always had it down as a bit of a superfood.
I eat quite a lot of it, however when i was younger I went through a phase of chopping it up raw in my salads.  We are talking maybe 7 or 8 CLOVES in a salad.  When I lifted the lid on my lunchbox (in the 6th form common room) within about 10 secs the stink used to fill the whole room (which was huge) and everybody was going 'urrrr what's that pong' LOL!!!!

it's good for the circulation i believe - not sure of what the upper limits of consumption are but i wouldn't think you've hit them by eating a couple of cloves a day.

You'd like it round our house for tea then - 3+ bulbs of garlic in a joint meal is far from uncommon...

I prefer slow cooking it though - so it goes all soft and sweet. Breath is usually ok (I think) but arse is capable of taking out medium sized villages...

I'm also a big fan of garlic. I have it in nearly every meal I eat, except breakfast. Sometimes I eat up  to 8 cloves per day, 2 - 3 cloves raw and rarely get told I have garlic breath. The only time is if I eat it with either tomatoes or red peppers. They do tend to make the garlic smell come across.

I eat a good handful at a time with any plate of potato style dish usually. I have for several years now sometimes up to 20 cloves a day... however it is not my every day diet unless I'm in Russia and then garlic is pretty much everyday,  lucky for me my wife likes garlic breath.

seems I recall something about raw garlic helping to stimulate natural production of growth hormone... but it was years ago and I'm quite fuzzy on details or accuracy.

yep, cooking food damages it but what u going to do?? Dont like raw food and bacteria. Eating garlic is good for your blood but in massive doses, so eat as much as you like Keyser
