Georgina McConnell (Teen female bodybuilder),

Just seen this on my facebook and very impressed. More so by her age and knowing what she wants in life. Credit where it's due.

Anyone heard of her before? Can't find anything on here searching her name.

This young woman competed with NABBA last year and this but has obviously decided to move over to UKBFF. Because of the amount of muscle she carries, I thought she was a lot older. My main concern would be the obvious - if she's not natural is this too young. I'd also want to keep an eye on her female hormones, this comes from someone who trained hard for another sport and didn't menstruate between the ages of 19 & 23, which resulted in significant bone density loss. This could however apply at any age, but a bit late if you get to your 30s and are suffering fractures, or wanting children.

Dana Linn Bailey however is I think only 21 and has a stunning physique. Good luck to her.

It also shows women of all ages can compete in ALL the available classes. It's easy to pigeon hole bikini and physique as young and older women's categories.

I am friends with Georgina on facebook and have seen her at the IBFA comp last year (2012) and think that its brilliant how determined she is, she seems to be a strong character and I respect her breaking the mould of a stereotypical teenage girl, and doing something out of the ordinary! 100% respect from me.

Gingernut - serious question do you believe she could carry that amount of muscle unassisted?

Dana Linn Bailey is 29-30.  Hayley McNeff would be a better comparison for someone competing and working in the industry in their late teens early 20s.

Yea she looks good in fact fantastic. Pure dedication that is for anyone who can get in that kind of shape.

Hope she handles the negative impact of the vile creatures who will never understand why she's doing what she's doing and go out of their way to hurt her mentally with taunts etc..

Re:Georgina McConnell (Teen female bodybuilder), 2013/10/07 10:44:20 (permalink)
and youll almost certainly want to put some 'spin' on it to make it more 'interesting' to viewers, as the bodybuilding lifestyle is actually a pretty mundane one.  hence why every programme that gets made about it the film makers always misrepresent and misquote, finding issues that aren't there, or searching for the minority who can provide them with interesting backstory from mental health to drugs problems, which is then portrayed as part of 'bodybuiling culture'.  There is always an angle, and its always done in a negative way.  This happens with lots of 'lifestyle' programmes, but in relation to bodybuilding, the most recent example would be the company that choose to follow Jodie marsh and portray her as a bodybuilder and link her negativity and problems to out great little sport. she isn't and never will be a bodybuilder, shes interested only in self promotion, and the media company saw an opportunity to cash in on something that's easy to portray negatively.

but then people who are happy, positive in life and normal, eat a clean healthy diet, spend their spare time prepping food, working out and relaxing, fitted around their normal day to day work and social lifes isn't going to be all that interesting is it?

id strongly advise anyone against being involved in any programmes, unless they are actively being filmed by people with an interest in promoting the positives of the sport. which mainstream media never will.

Dazc, your reply looks a little strange now I've deleted the one from Jessica

Why on earth put a "fake" bodybuilder in with such a wonderful inspirational story? This girl knocks spots off JM!!

Lovely physique and yes I do believe it is attainable naturally, whether at such a young age is another matter and will all depend on what she has done throughout her younger years. I see young girls with better development coming through who have done gymnastics, ballet, and athletics.

it was an example of what mainstread media likes to do when portraying our sport.  JM is not and never will be a BBer, but that didn't stop the media saying she was, or portraying some good people in bad light to make an interesting BS story!

hence why they cannot and should not be trusted!

the request has also been posted in some other sections, the steroid section in a thread about teenage use, so that right there says they were looking to put a drugs angle in the story, before they have even done any research or talked to people!

The situation is in hand Dazc . It's sad that BB gets a bad light in the media. Drugs are rife in many sports but the spotlight always lands on BB!! Even I got accused of having a deep voice when I was interviewed on the radio!! It just creates more ignorance and assumptions.

Georgina is supposed to be competing this weekend at the UKBFF British Champs, contesting the first ever Ladies Physique class for that fed.

I had News Of The World and also ITN interested in me a couple of years back.

NOTW wanted me to sign a contract saying I couldn't say anything til 28 days after publication otherwise I wouldn't get paid and ITN wanted me to say how I forced my other half to eat in certain ways, which I didn't.

Always an angle on the negative with BBing.
