Guidance Needed Please

Hi, i have recently joined a gym and im a little overwhelmed by everything, i really dont know where to start, i have been doing a little cardio one day and then the next i have been doing a little weights. Before Christmas i lost 1/2 a stone (i know its not a lot) i currently weigh 77kg, i seem to have quite a lot of nautral muscle, i tend to compare myself to other women and noticed that i have bigger biceps and bigger calves than them but this is not due to working out, i have always been like this,. My main objective is to lose weight and tone up quite a lot, i'd like to have a bit of definition in my arms, tummy, legs and calves. Im struggling st the moment to know what to eat, i tend to eat a lot when im hungry then not really eat at other times. I tend to eat lunch, chicken or turkey salad or wrap, soup, pasta. Dinner can be anything and i dont usually eat breakfast. Any help would be greatly appreiciated.

Hi. IMO the first thing you should look to do is establish a consistent visits pattern. This will help to integrate a healthier, more active lifestyle into your every day routine. Do not try and over analyse everything you do at this stage. Shoot for 30 to 40 mins steady cardio vascular work at every gym visit for now. On a scale of 0 to 10, zero being asleep and 10 being running for your life, try and work at a 7 or so. Give this a couple of weeks and as your confidence grows, ask to see an instructor for a basic 20 min resistance routine to compliment your cardio work. As far as nutrition goes, IMO step 1 should be for you to try and drop any overly processed, sugary carbs such as sweets, biscuits, soft drinks, confectionery etc. You do not need to eat like a bodybuilder and train like an olympian yet, be progressive with introducing your intensity levels and try and enjoy what you do. Enjoyment will help you establish exercise as a long term commitment.

Hi, good advice from kinglean, I don't have much more to add. You say you eat a lot when you are hungry, perhaps look at getting yourself into the position when you are not really hungry like that, i.e. eating regularly / little and often? Do you find you try not to eat very much and then get starving and eat loads? When you eat a lot is it rubbish/junk food?

Hi,I have been trying to eat healthily but I somehow don't feel satisfied, I have always cooked big meals as my boyfriend works long hours manual work, I used to eat the same portion size as him, I find it difficult to eat healthily as I work evenings(4-9)then when I get hungry I eat a lot at the same time. Thanks
