I do this at the end of my weights workouts.

- Set the PM for 20mins.
- Warm up for 5mins
- As soon as the clock hits 14:30 I row as hard as I can for 30secs. (Not going above 30spm)
- Row slowly for 30secs.
- Repeat x 10.
- Cool down for the last 5mins.

This is good because you can choose the rest periods. Ideally you'd be working for 30secs then resting for 30sec but if you're not up to it you can adjust to suit.

Faux Real
How much HIIT would one have to do for it to be the same as 45 or 60 minutes SSCV?

erm, precisely 2 minutes and 5 seconds.

"the same" in what way? one is sprints, one is endurance, chalk, cheese...

Sorry.  I meant the same calories.

If you 'burnt' 250 kcal in 60 mins of SSCV.  What would that equate to in HIIT?

I'm sure there is no way to find out but just in case there is I am asking.

PAGANIf I do I'll follow it up with some very easy SS too just to make me feel comfortable with the calorie expenditure during the seshion,

Today I did 10 mins of 30 seconds on 30 seconds off HIIT followed by 10 minutes of SSCV.

The HIIT had my heart rate at 160 and during the SSCV it was at about 130.

I did it on the X-Trainter so it wasnt very strenuous unlike the rower.

Am I doing it wrong?

I would have thought your HR would have been higher when doing HIIT. Was that averageHR? When I do it my HR is around the 180bpm mark after an interval and the last couple I'm seeing 190+

Might have something to do with using the x-trainer as they are quite hard to get a speed up on.

I'm sure on the rower I was more like 200+
