It'll be almost impossible to gauge mate whether hairs have been "saved" using the precautions you describe.
I'm sure there are loads of men prone to MPB that haven't noticed any loss from a cycle, though that doesn't mean that more hairs haven't been lost than would otherwise have been the case had a person not used steroids.
The unfortunate fact is that if a person is prone to MPB, then steroids will accelerate the rate of loss, though the degree of this increased rate is not predictable. Some will notice a large increase in shedding (much more hairs left in an emptied bathtub
than is normal for them), others not so dramatic. Using finasteride will help, though DHT is not the sole culprit, as testosterone in itself is a reasonably strong androgen, irrespective of conversion.
You will only have the answers after the event, since this sort of side effect is very user dependant. It's not such an issue though since you will not "go bald" after 1 cycle. You will almost certainly not even notice with a 'before' and 'after' shot that you have lost any hair at all (even though you probably have lost some).
Afterwards though, you will know one way or the other (have baths instead of showers for a while!) whether you need to be more careful in future regarding your choice and dose/duration of drugs, in an attempt to limit the increase in the rate of your natural progression of MPB
