Yes I took some in my main luggage early 2011. Someone told me you have to take sealed containers or they get confiscated but I took a pre-opened small tub of approx 300g whey and another small plastic bottle of multivits and bcaa. These were in my main luggage and got through fine. If theyre in hand luggage youll have a problem becuase they were thorough with that.
Its easy to explain what it is if they do question it; its a small amount for personal use and I want to enjoy my trip instead of looking around vitamin stores!
I was puzzled on a trip to usa a few years back when they were asking if anyone had food or plant items with them at the airport, I mentioned I had supplements and protein chocolate bars in my luggage and he waved me through. I dont think its really a problem as long as its in main luggage and a small amount.

      Thanks for that detailed response.
I have a fair few opened tubs of whey and bcaa's that I hoped i could get shipped over, can I do this and if yes do they have to be unopened?

Went to Perth month back and no problems with taking protein etc in any more than UK, you may get stopped and questioned if its in your hand luggage. If you mean export to Australia depends what your exporting, prohormones etc would be a different story they are banned in Australia so the legal obligation would be on the importer. Hope that helps.

I'm moving there on Saturday, I've a load of opened supplements I'm wondering can I get shipped over rather than having to buy new supps as they appear to be very expensive in Oz.

I cant see why you couldnt get them shipped over. Worst the customs would do is a drug check?

I assume the 4-8 tubs you wanna ship would come under personal use so no import duties should apply?

Having watched that Nothing to Declare Oz could the whey not be classed as agri/dairy and therefore would be confiscated or get a $200 fine or something.

Maybe call the Oz embassy and ask first - no doubt you'd flog the tubs mate back home.

                    Best of luck btw.
