Hello From The Midlands

Hi All, I have been looking at this site for a while and have finally decided enough is enough I need to sort out my body. Let me introduce myself. Im From the Midlands and am 27 years old and Im married with 3 Gorgeous Children. my present Weight is a disgusting 22.5 stone and Im 6ft 4. Last week I suffered from horrendous chest pains which i was told by the hospital was bought on by the massive strain that my heart is dealing with due to my weight. This was enough to scare the living hell out of me and finally gave me the push that I have needed to loose the weight that I need to. I realise if I carry on the way I am my Kids will be growing up without a Dad and that is no ones fault but my own. I dont have a disability that stops me exercising the truth o the matter is I have been damn lazy and slobbish and to be honest I aint setting any example to my children so enough is enough the only problem is WHERE THE HELL DO I START. My plan is to learn as much as I can and alter my eating and exercise habits. At present I am eating 3 large meals per day as well as constantly snacking and drinking fizzy drinks and sugary snacks. I see from reading this forum that 6 small meals a day should help me loose weight by keeping my metabolism going and preventing those Hunger Pangs that terrify me. My training regime is non existent so Im considering starting with cardio maybe 3 times a week to get into it (is this enough?) All in all I have had a huge kick in the ass to get this done and any help will be much appreciated as this is a little new to me as my stats suggest. Thanks for reading this sorry I babbled a little (ps I also plan to blog my progress and have put a link in my profile hope thats ok)

Im in Redditch mate. Your pic looks awesome buddy. Im going to start training at hoem at first (embarrasment etc) so I have invested in a set of free weights and a bench and some trainers so I can run (under the cover of darkness lol). Any help with my diet (what i should eat etc and what to avoid) would be very much appreciated.

honestly I would shock your body to quick with crash dieting just have your 3 meals a day and cut all the snacking out and try to make them three meals as clean as poss u will be suprised how much will come off by just doing that when you get to a point where u r not lossing anything then it is time to change your diet which there is many people on here who will help you out with that. as for exercise all i did was walk every where as much as possible, to begin with. another thing which will help is sugar free jelly I used it during my diet for show as i do love to snack in the eve you can buy hartleys sachets of the sugar free jelly think there about 60p for 2 and 2 will make 2 pints of jelly and only contains 64 cal 0 sugar 0 fat I have 2 pints a day stops me bury my head in the biscuit barrel ! your a fair way from me im in Brown hills but if you ever fancy a bit of traing just pm me good luck with it all is you want it you can do it

Thanks mate. Im liking the Jelly Idea i will invest. Im a kind of all or nothing guy and with me there arent half measures as i have proven by getting so big. Im going to make this lifestyle change and stick at it. I know there are no miracle cures so hard work is the way forward just a shame it took a health scare to point me in the right direction.

Hello, and all the very best with sorting yourself out! ElGringo180 Im a kind of all or nothing guy and with me there arent half measures That's good in a sense, but don't attack it with so much energy that you burn out / begin to hate it and stop. In the initial few weeks / month at least it's going to be quite a difference and possibly a bit difficult to adjust, so there's something to be said for tackling it seriously yet moderately until you get into the swing of things. It's going to be a long process so you need to set a pace that you can continue with. Again, all the best!
