Help needed to restart training
30 January 2012 21:39
( permalink)
Hi I am looking to get my old body back after ten yrs and a baby later. I have no idea where to start but i know what i want to acheive. I am 41 yrs old, 14 stone 5ft8 large build and need to lose the fat (2 stone with luck) and find those old muscles which i know are under there somewhere. I do 3 cardio sessions per week, either spinning or body combat and looking to do 3 weight training sessions. I am ok with these but really need help with diet and the best supplements/shakes to use and when to use them. can anyone help as its a minefield of different products? thanks Nicky

Hi and welcome to MT Nicky. If you can post up what an average day's diet looks like, when you train etc, we can go from there.

Hi Thank you I am following weight watchers at the minute but know this is probably no good for BB but i have lost 17lbs so far, im trying to use my points on protein and carbs when possible. porridge for breakfast salad or prawn sarnie for lunch chicken/fish and veg with potatoes for evening meal. snacks are yogurts and fruit I train in the evening, mostly mon wed fri. but think i should start to get up early and maybe use something like hydroxycut?? I have also started taking flaxseed oil and chitosan. regards Nicky

Hi! It's late so just one breif comment for now.. save the hydroxycut for when you need it, with plenty of weight to lose (takes one to know one) diet and cardio will do all the hard work without wasting your pennies. xx

Welcome to the forum I'd keep the supps really simple at this stage; Chitosan probably not really even needed. As Fi said, leave out the Hydroxycut until you really need it. The one thing you do need is a good post-workout shake, above all else It should contain some fast-digesting carbs from dextrose/maltodextrin/glucose and some form of protein be it whey/isolate/hemp. Most brands will sell an All in one post-workout shake with these things in; but if you wanted to make your own, you could do that too. The only problem is, I don't know how it fits in with WW in terms of points? You might have to Google that.
