Dear BYF, Thank you for your question relating to the graph. The graphs are derived from the diet plan spreadsheet published on the www.hipacc.org web site and represent a level 1 program. This particular spreadsheet specifies exact amounts of given foods. This particular program was designed for an active person with a generally quicker metabolism, and there will be large caloric variations (downwards) for lower calorie levels (2&3) or if alternative meal options are chosen. The given spreadsheet accounts for a typical commuter lifestyle and assumes that the individual is physically active. Even after all of this, the projected net calorie deficit for the week is only 2,000 kCal. It is unlikely though that most people would eat the full proportions recommended due to the high fibre content, associated water intake, green tea, and high protein levels. Perhaps the term 'misleading' is inappropriate, given that we are fairly brave to commit to figures in the first place, and due to the fact that there will be large variations in exercise levels, metabolism and appetite between individuals. Diet is not an exact science, and it is perhaps not wise to be too 'anal' about absolute values, as there are such vast individual variations from the parameters already mentioned to food tolerances and fat or carbohydrate usage. Individuals are encouraged to follow their appetite, which is specifically targeted by the HiPaCC program, and to modify their levels of food intake accordingly. I still think the graphs are rather misleading showing calories up to around 2800cals on weekdays with the text stating that its an example of a meal plan 1 calorie intake and macro breakdown. Looking at the meal plans theres barely 2000cals on the highest calorie days and certainly not 1200 calories coming from sugars and a whopping 2000 calories coming from carbs in total.

Hello James Diet is going well so far - really liking it, no hunger, good variation etc. A question regarding the 'treat/cheat day' You advise this to be on the Friday yes? Is this just one meal, or is this just a day of basically eating what you want? Also, is there anything that should be avoided that could put a spanner in the works of how the diet works as a whole? Cheers

Cheers A treat meal should just be one meal, though there will be larger protein portions on this day too. No it is definitely not eat what you want, and even the treat meal should be well balanced and healthy There are lots of things which could put a spanner in the works - too much booze, too many chips, too much cake, etc!

so would this book be a good buy for someone like me, who at the moment is trying to lose fat and tone up? I'm at a point where I've lost the bulk of my weight just through changing what I used to eat and started running and training with weights. does this lifestyle still work with the eat less and often?

My intentions were not to attack but to offer some insight. the spreadsheet shows pictures not actual amounts of foods e.g 50g oats, 130g chicken, 200g mixed veg etc. the spreadsheet and meal plans do correlate very well in terms of calorie intake, but the graphs do not, they are way off the mark my statement is not ridiculous, its clear to see, the graphs for monday to friday are out. why not a produce a graph using the data in the spreadsheet for a more accurate display of macro amounts, ratios and calorie intake of the top level plan?

Testimonial: I can’t force myself to call the HiPaCC a diet as during my time using it (12 weeks) I never once felt like I was on a diet, using a good healthy food menu from HiPaCC, I never felt hungry. The HiPaCC regimen allowed me to eat good sized potions throughout the day and towards the weekend my carbs where lowered, which I worried about at first but it wasn’t really a problem. Being already in good shape due to my training routine I hadn’t thought the HiPaCC would help me drop any weight, I really just wanted to eat a little more healthy, so I was really surprised when within my first two weeks I had lost at least 8lbs. Over the period off my trail I lost 1 stone and 2lbs and lowered my body fat levels to around 12 – 13 % I have since keep some of the HiPaCC principles in my daily diet and still manage to keep my weight down, I will be using this diet again into the New Year to trim up for the summer and I couldn’t imagine using any other system Brian H

ORIGINAL: drcash im guessing this diet is not suitable for diabetics? Hi drcash - long time no hear! Type 1 diabetics need to follow the diet with caution and ensure approval from their doctor or diabetes specialist nurse first. If you're on a flexible insulin regimen with an adjustable dose of super-fast acting insulin (Humalog or Novorapid) then you could follow HiPaCC; especially if you follow the DAFNE (sp?!!) regimen. Other insulin regimens should not follow HiPaCC

just getting back into it mate, got an injury doing mma training and not been doing much for last 3 years, time i think to whip my ass back into shape. Been having a few problems controlling my diabetes past few months, had some tests done, got to see doctor about results, so wouldnt be able to do it for a while yet, but still might purchase the book as it sounds a very interesting read. The website has came on leaps and bounds mate, well done, just goes to show what u can achieve if you know your stuff and follow the dream.

Before I answer though, what's your day job and do you work Mon-Fri 9-5? at the moment its monday to friday 8am untill 4 but having to do overtime at the moment till 5 and 6 pm but getting boot at 3:30 pm today from the sounds of things so il have mon-sun doing nothing again untill i find another job but that will have to be mon-fri

Dear LittleJones, Thank you for bringing this to our attention. As Firefox has an estimated 14% of the browser market we should cater for these users. IE7 has also just been released and solves many of the problems of earlier versions and is much improved and faster. Please let us know what specific problems you have encountered as there are variations due to personalised settings, microsoft plug-ins (e.g. Excel spreadsheets) and what version is being used. It depends on the person, but I assumed Dave is looking to lose weight as a priority which was why he is going on the HiPaCC regimen. If it was a bodybuilder looking to build/maintain muscle as an equal priority to losing fat, then yes I would adocate a whey shake before morning cardio

ok slightly tired but am i right in saying that the breakfast drinks ie. 200ml milk and 200ml fruit juice are all for that sitting or am i being thick and i only get the one drink lol belly is thinking mmmmmmmmm mind is thinking you dumb idiot

would it make much of a difference to the plan if someone say did 1 of the days 3 times that week so say i did mondays meal plan on monday tuesday wednesday?
