Re: RE: HiPaCC :: The Dietary Revolution - new trial results! - 26 April 2009 20:27 ( #262 )
Been following hipaac since Jan. Lost about 18-20lbs so far. Im gettin married in 16 weeks and would like to be leaner but dont want to be as strict with myself for the another 4 months. I was thinking of a wee lean bulk for 8 weeks followed by 8 weeks to shed the fat. Will be of work for the last 6-weeks so will be able to hammer the cardio. Does this sound like a good idea? Obviously dont want to beef up too much. Any help appreciated.

Out of curiosity what do you think my bodyfat % is.

Wow - you're in brilliant shape - that's really good results.  Not sure on Body Fat % as it's how you look not figures, but I'd guess 10-12%

I wouldn't 'bulk' but why not hold the weight loss and simply gain lean muscle for 8 weeks?  Then you can tighten up a bit more for the last bit?

Where are you off on honeymoon?

Cheers James. Going to Penang (malasia). Want to try and add a few more pounds of lean tissue and then really lean out. I like the structure of Hipaac. I was thinking of dropping the three lower carb days for a while and adding an extra small meal before bed every day. Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks for your comments.

Not updated for ages now! But just an updated since the last update I am now down another 2 stone following this. I must admit there have been times I have 'slipped' but tried my best to keep the carbs low when they are low.

I have just applied to join the fire service so for now have stopped the Hipacc to concentrate on my cardio fitness. However I am still using a LOT of the ideas in the Hipacc and without fail the best diet, well I wouldnt call it a diet personally.

Great plan and WELL worth the ££ :)

Hi James

I have worked with you before! I have just downloaded the ebook and intend to start it on Monday.  Obviously its a case of finding your own 'best fit' and tailoring it to your needs however i have a couple of questions:

1) Can i replace granary bread with low GI seed bread?
2) Will taking a green tea supplement be as effective as drinking it?
3) I have been given a load of slim fast shakes (from a fad dieter) --I was thinking of having one of these each morning for breakfast along with an extra scoop of whey--what do you think? Be a shame to throw it away!
4) I have a juice made from 4 carrot, 2 apples, 1/2 a lemon and an inch of ginger.  I was thinking of having this instead of one of the snacks?

thanks
lee

also i forgot to ask--i find it difficult to drink plain water---can i put a bit of sugar free cordial in it?
I have heard (don't have a clue if its myth or fact!) that if you add cordial to water then its digested as food and not water?

Hi Lee

1) Yes that's fine
2) Yes, maybe moreso, but there are other nutritional benefits from drinking green tea as well as fat loss
3) It's up to you, but if you're asking my opinion I'd say no
4) That would be ok instead of a fruit only snack

Let me know if there are any more questions

I'm not sure what 'disgested as food and not water' means to be honest!

Hi James,

First off I wanted to say how much me and the guys that came to the Expo enjoyed the talk by yourself in the AM session on the Saturday.

Further to hearing about the HiPaCC diet I purchased it online when I returned. I have a few initial questions after reading through it all -

1. Does Green Tea have any effect on trying to sleep at night. I have had it before (prob too much) at night and remember having a restless night?

2. I use CNP Pro-Recover after my workout. If I am following Level 2 will a normal serving of this be ok to take? (I have also been adding more to the shake i.e 3 scoops rather than 2) and drinking it throughout the workout as well as at the end as recommended in the seminar. Again will this fit in to the diet?

3. I think I am being blind but when can you add the cheat meal into the diet or is it accounted for within the information guidelines already?

4. Would using a daily Omega 3, 6 and 9 supplement (taking already) add any benefit to the diet.

I hope you don't mind the questions I just want to get the most out of the HiPaCC.

Thanks in advance
James

Hi Terrlier

Glad you enjoyed the talk.

1) It does contain some caffeine though less than black (normal) tea.  So if you're caffeine sensitive, then avoid it too late

2) Yes it can do, depending on your goals.  Only have it on training days though

3) You can add it when suits, preferable on a carb day in place of a main meal

4) Fine to include

No problem with the questions here - others can learn from them too!

Re:HiPaCC :: The Dietary Revolution - new trial results! - 15 July 2009 00:48 ( #277 )
Hi James,

I've just purchased a copy of the HipaCC Diet and looking forward to start it next Monday when i get all my groceries for it this weekend and by that time i would have had a thorough read of it.

A few questions:

Could I mix porridge oats with the morning shake for breakfast?  (if so could this compensate this for the oatcake that i am supposed have as a snack in the mid morning/afternoon?)

If i do get hungry is it ok to eat nuts e.g. almonds or cashew nuts ? if so how many?

Sometimes due to erratic shift patterns at work would it be ok to substitute lunch/dinner with a meal replacement drink?

Does it make a difference as to what type of glucose drink you would take after you work out?
Would you recommend any one of these in particular for the HipaCC diet as a post work out drink: fructose, waxy maize starch or barley starch?

For breakfast I am not a big fan of Muesli.... would any of the following be a good substitute instead....porridge made from milk, porridge made from water or Oatabix with skimmed milk?

Lastly, would there be any point in taking an ECA stack?

Many thanks in advance

Z

Hi Zain

I'm sure you'll enjoy your purchase!

A few questions:

Could I mix porridge oats with the morning shake for breakfast?  (if so could this compensate this for the oatcake that i am supposed have as a snack in the mid morning/afternoon?)

Yes you could, but keep the portion small.  No it shouldn't compensate for later food though.

If i do get hungry is it ok to eat nuts e.g. almonds or cashew nuts ? if so how many?

Not really, as although a great choice of healthy food, they are calorific and the aim of HiPaCC is to lose weight

Sometimes due to erratic shift patterns at work would it be ok to substitute lunch/dinner with a meal replacement drink?

Not ideal - and, of course, the drink would depend on what day you're on

Does it make a difference as to what type of glucose drink you would take after you work out?
Would you recommend any one of these in particular for the HipaCC diet as a post work out drink: fructose, waxy maize starch or barley starch?

Not really.  Fructose is not a good choice though, but others are ok.

For breakfast I am not a big fan of Muesli.... would any of the following be a good substitute instead....porridge made from milk, porridge made from water or Oatabix with skimmed milk?

Yes, use skimmed milk

Lastly, would there be any point in taking an ECA stack?

As a health professional I am unable to comment and I recommend you consult your doctor before commencing something like this.

Many thanks in advance

Z

Re:HiPaCC :: The Dietary Revolution - new trial results! - 26 July 2009 17:30 ( #279 )
I purchased this this morning and while I have not had a great deal of time today (decorating) to read it I still intend on starting tomorrow.
Just a couple of questions:

  1. I do have problems getting to sleep and staying asleep so I am keen to drop the green tea in the evening, should i look to replace this with something else?
  2. At what sort of intesity should the 40 minutes of rowing machine be after resistance training?
  3. I will be doing cardio in the morning 30-45 minutes, is it still OK to do the cardio post resistance training on these days?
Many thanks

Hi Hyp - welcome to MT and HiPaCC!

1) Yes you should drop it and replace with water (have you tried flavoured water?).

2) Low intensity, ie where you can still talk and are not panting afterwards

3) Yes, if you have the time and you feel you're fit enough

Anything else, please do ask
