Is there a problem with the HiPaCC site, as clicking on the link to buy just brings up a DNS error page? Apologies if its just my connection though!

Also, still having problems with Firefox, plus some accessibility issues such as not being able to resize text, images being used for navigation, yet not having alt text (try navigating site without images enabled) - sorry to put my webbie hat on but the book seems really good yet you could be alienating potential customers!

Anyway, look forward to buying and cracking on with it!

Cheers,

MJ

Hi James! Maybe this is a stupid question but could this plan be "tweaked" so that with the CHO cycling, you'll be able to slowly *add* muscle mass while losing fat?

Yes it could, portions would ahve to be trained according to your week's workout schedule

Just wanted to say thanks for the great new diet, finally got around to ordering my copy last night and will be starting it on Monday.

Lots of great info contained in the booklet and includes a diet that I can easily follow

just wondered whether you knew of any sites I could get alternative exercise’s on, as I'm not able to go to the gym at present and do all my training at home, with free weights.

Thanks again though

Great to hear positive feed back about Hipacc, It took all three of us over a year to produce and has seen some excellent results. Thank you for the comments!
RE: Training, there is a very basic home training section in the book but you sound more advanced than the included shedule. There are some excellent articles on MT with various training programs which you may find of use, or I can personally design one for you via "Healthy Action"

RE: HiPaCC :: The Dietary Revolution - new trial results! - 03 May 2007 15:20 ( #172 )
Hi,

I have just read the book and its great! I am about to embark on tailoring my current diet and exercise routine more specifically to the HIPaCC. I understand the plan is more of a guide than a strict plan, and that there is much room for adjustments. But I am unsure about a few factors and wondered if it might be able to ask some questions here, I hope some of you may be able to help!?

I am definitely a level 2. I am a vegan and currently exercise 3-4 days per week cardio/weights, for the plan I will increase this to 5/6 cardio and 3 weights.

Currently I notice my diet is very high in good fats – avocados, olives, olive oil, nuts and seeds, nut/seed butters, and can probably see why I have problems losing weight.

My current diet is normally:
Smoothie for breakfast – rice milk, hemp seed protein powder, a banana, ground flax seed and some peanut butter. Occasional I add oats.

Snacks: oatcakes, rye breads, apples, fruit, carrots, raisins, nuts, sunflower/pumpkins seeds.

Lunch/dinners: salads/veg with beans or tofu, occasional use of soya products (they usually contain wheat). With one meal a day usually some Brown Rice, quinoa, rice pasta/noodles, oatwraps, or oatcakes.

Drinks: water, herbal teas, black tea with soya milk.

I tend to avoid too much wheat as it makes me feel very bloated/gassy. Too much beans and Soya also unfortunately makes me feel like this too! That is why I prefer rice milk.

QUESTIONS!!!!
1) Can rice milk be used in the morning? What about Hemp seed protein powder? My current smoothie minus the Peanut butter perhaps? I am uncomfortable using too much Soya as it makes me feel way too bloated.
2) Can we use a variety of vegetables, or only the ones in the menu?
3) Where do beans, nuts and seeds come into the plan?
4) Quorn is not a vegan food as it contains eggs, can soya/tofu/beans be a substitute?
5) What do you mean by uncooked rice and uncooked cous cous? What about using Quinoa?
6) What about cooking processes for foods, and salad dressings, are they any restrictions with fat use? Eg. Frying/baking, grilling etc, olive oil use?
7) What about fruits and fruit juice. I current don’t drink juice. I prefer to eat fruit; can this be an ok substitute?

Sorry for my ignorance! I have read through the book a few times after recently purchasing it and just want to clarify these issues.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Thanks for your time and sorry for the long post!!!!

Thank you thank you thank you thank you!!! :)
p.s I start today :)

x

James

Hi there - thanks for your comment and welcome to MT and to HiPaCC

(Can I ask where you heard about HiPaCC from please?)

1) Yes rice mik will be ok. I have not seen a nutritional breakdown of hemp seed protein powder before - have you a link?
2) Veg - use variety - any greens and carrrots as you like
3) There should be some options for pulses on the modules
4) Yes, tofu, TVP and such like are ok
5) 'Uncooked' refers to the weight - it doesn't mean you have to eat it uncooked. yes quinoa is another great alternative
6) Use minimal
7) Yes an item of fruit can be a substitute for a juice

Any other queries, please let me know

Hi James,

many thanks for the info ! Sorry about question 6 - duh. thanks

I've been a "reader" on MT for a while, but never registered to post before - thanks for the welcome!

I heard about HipaCC from the female section of this forum and it sounded interesting so I downloaded it for a read.

I found this link to Hemp seed protein powder with some info: http://www.detoxyourworld.com/acatalog/hemp_protein.html ....as I sometimes use this brand.

I also on very occasionally use Thor's Raw Power (a bit pricey!!!!) but i really like the maca. I should really try to make it myself.

Ingredients: Brazil nut protein powder, hemp protein powder, maca, goji berry powder, maca extreme (fresh, cold processed maca)
Nutritional Information:
Serving size – 2 scoops
Servings per container – 16
Calories per serving – 115
Total fat – 3g (1g saturated)
Sodium – 11g
Total carbohydrate – 11g (3g fiber, 6g sugars)
Protein – 11g

Let me know what you think ...
Many thanks for your help :)

Hi

Thanks for the info on hemp protein powder - I didn't know it existed and always useful to know for vegan BBers too. However the protein %age is relatively low, and the carbs higher - so bear that in mind when using it on a lower carb day

Your other protein looks interesting too - but to work out the %age I need to know the serving size in grams please or the per 100g gram breakdown please.

thanks

Hi again,

Thanks so much, I will bare this in mind, and maybe use some soya powder and soya milk on the low carb days (?).

I re-looked at my tub of Thor's Raw power - which is actually the chocolate one, and it seems a quite different from the above which i cut from a site I found online while I was at work (sorry ?).

My jar says:

per 28g serving (2 scoops)

Calories – 110 (from fat - 18)
Total fat - 2g
Total Carbs - 15g (fiber 3g, sugars 7g)
Protein - 8g
Calcium - 86mg
Iron 5mg
Selenium 109mg
Sodium 48mg

Ingredients: hemp protein powder (seed), Brazil nut protein powder, maca powder (root and extract), goji berry powder, Cacao powder, mesquite powder.

info:
http://www.sunfood.com/cgi-bin/order/index.cgi?id=211500232480&d=single&item_id=1017&c=Supplements&sc=Protein_Products&tc=

worse! ? :(

Thanks again :)

That's very carby and not very high protein, therefore not ideal, I'm afraid. I'd look at a soya or pea protein maybe - both available from MT sponsors

As long as you can still be flexible with your food choice, then HiPaCC can suit this fine.
