How Do You Open Yours...(Glass Ampoule)?

 
I was wondering what procedures you guys go through when opening a Glass Ampoule which make it easy??
 
The reason I ask is that in the past I have crushed the top's of a couple of Sust ampoule's whilst trying to open them (goon ) so decided to purchase a glass-cutter from my local DIY store...meant for cutting nice flat pieces of glass and not tiny-round Ampoule's!!
 
I have got a method of dismantling the glass cutter, taking out the tiny cutting blade and in-effectivley hacking at the ampoule until i get a slight score...usually in the wrong place befort attempting to open mine...
 
        ...any home-remidies or advice on what to use would be most welcome

i just score then neck of the amp with a blade, sit it in some warm water once its warm i rub it with an alco wipe then it just pops open  

I have tried scoring the with all my kitchen knife's but they either too thick or not sharp enough as they never seemed to produce a mark in the glass...?
 
When I first read your post (v.quickly) I thought you said that you score your's with a badge lol

I sometimes use a needle file to score the neck of the vial and then snap of using some tissue in case it shatters.

cup of hot water does the trick most of the time, also try rotating the amp and applying pressure in a slightly different part of the neck if it doesnt open straight away

biro lid does it every time. it allows you to use the required force while not letting you apply "squeeze" to the bit that is going to pop off.

Never a genius in my Mat’l lessons at school but would have thought that a flimsy biro lid would NEVER be able to score a glass bottle…right??
 
Lol a brick was always going to be my second choice of weaponry…obviously

1.take the biro lid and put it over the top of the amp.
2.snap off the top of the amp using the lid
3.draw your oil.

amp openers are available on ebay and they do the same job and are far from mythical

biro lid will not work for every type of amp. For example Farmak Prop, has no break point whatsoever. You need an amp opener for that.
 
But what works in every case is a simple saw file. It's a file with 3 sides which you can fit within the teeth of a saw. Score the amp with the edge of the file a few times and it's easy to snap then.

he wanted to know how people open there amps.... I do it like that for peace of mind really, there probly aint any actually benifit... just helps me rest easy lol.

just hold with a piece of tissue or my t-shirt and snap em off. Had a few well 'ard ones, but I got them in the end, as mentioned, twisting them round to find weak points helps.

On most (if not all) the amps I have seen there is a round black spot 1mm dia on the neck, I thought it was here the 'apparent' weak spot was as oppose to rotating the amp to find it??

I'll be giving the biro-lid trick a go tomorrow I think & I have some needle files which look like the pic's so i'll be digging those out as well

maybe iranians are easier but I've never had a problem cracking mine open. Just a swift snap of the neck and it's open.

I have noticed tho (with the iranian test) that if I try and snap it open without using the little black top you see on the top as a marker for the direction to snap it in, then it doesn't open that easily - coincidence??
