How clean is your diet while on bulking cycle?

Not sure if this belongs in the nutrition board or here since I am posting about eating while using steroids. But I hear people say different things about eating while on bulking cycle. Some say you should still keep diet clean to prevent fat gain while increasing muscle mass. But I've read about others loading up on very high calorie/fat meals during this time. (I remember one respected member here posting about eating several big macs every night while on cycle to keep protein and calorie intake high but wasn't sure if he was actually joking.) Do you guys tend to keep a clean diet even while on bullking cycle or do you allow yourself to eat fattening (but also high protein) foods more often since you want to gain size?

Thanks,

I have to eat everything in sight in order to make any gains, doctors told my i had an unusually high metabolsim when young n i still struggle to a mass extent with it no despite i can tell it has started 2 slow slightly.

Dnt get me wrong i eat alot of clean healthy food, but i also eat vast quantities of junk food aswell which i no is far from ideal, but i personally think there is no other way 2 do it.

Fat is not an issue to me, i have a large frame so you don't notice it at all

Every major meal i aim for 2-3000 calories, I am also sick due to overeating, I no this is counter-productive but it's made up for by the times i hold the vast amount of food down

As sparticus says it's completely down to metabolism. Those who have fast metabolisms can get away with eating junk, those with slower metabolims needs to keep it clean and watch their calorie intake in order to reduce fat gains.

Many people says "eat as much as you can on cycle". That's all well and good if you're metabolism allows for so much eating, but if not you'll get fat. Gear or no gear. It should be noted aswell that most "massive eating" style articles are designed for hardgainers and thus should not be followed by everyone. For some it's necessary to have to limit calories even when bulking, getting fat won't do you any favours. I do favour adding cardio though rather than simply eating less but sometimes even cardio isn't enough. Depends on lifestyle too of course; how active you are during the day.

    mine isnt clean enough tbh

im not fat but my bodyfat percentage is higher than i wish it to be,

which now in turn makes my pre-comp diet more difficult.

eating correctly all year takes hard work and dedication - and ive let it slip.

not overly concerned - but definate lessons to be learned for next time.

I try not to eat too much junk, occasionally i do 2-3 times a week. If i need a quick fix i will drink one or 2 cans of nourishment. I have a whey and oats shake (in water)every morning and around an hr after evey meal, I eat big before i go to bed and the same throughout the day. On my fiirst course i had a very high protein diet off the top of my head i took in around 500g a day this worked very well for me, i did get a little chubby for a couple of weeks but as training intensity increased and muscle mass increased this soon dissapeared completely

    AGE:-23
    HEIGHT:-5"11
    STARTING WEIGHT:- 159lbs feb 2008
    HEAVIEST WEIGHT:- 210lbs
    CURRENT WEIGHT:- 198lbs feb 2009

Best way to look at it mate. A great man once said, "There's no such thing as failures; only learning lessons".

Try to keep it as clean as possible. Bodybuilding is about aesthetics and excessive bulking makes you look sh!t. Furthermore, as you get fatter, insulin sensitivy decreases as well as nutrient partitioning.
Don't let myself get above 15% in the off-season.

Next year, going to be running a pre-contest diet and just add carbs in on a gradual basis. Best way IMO.

As long as it doesn't go over my calorie requirement for the day, anything is game, although the bulk of my diet is always 6 healthy balanced meals/day.

I've gained strength and gotten leaner since switching to a high fat/low carb diet. Mon-fri carbs PWO/PPWO only. Roughly 24 hour carb up on weekend. Considering dropping carbs PWO though and increasing the carb ups to try and maximise fat loss as only want to cut for another 2/3 more weeks.

I look at like this, i have my set diet and meals at set times, all these are pretty clean with good doses of F+V and give me pretty much everyting i require in a day on there own.

If i can fill the gaps in between those meals with say a double cheeseburger or 2 i class it as bonus calories that day, it's easy to say well just eat clean food at those times aswell, but i need so many calories to seem to get anywhere, it's not productive for me to eat a couple of apples or a bannana in place of somthing dirty

Funnily enough on-cycle I gain best when very high protein and fat with low carbs..Off-cycle's another thing though, carbs have to shoot way up or lose size..

I always eat as clean as I know how, whether on or off cycle. As calorie needs increase I increase calories; an extra shake here a bigger portion there and some additional oil on salads and veggies etc.

I don't think anyone ever really gets away with eating badly, IMO.

IMO Like has been said everybody is different, we all need to find out what works for us.

For me i allow 1 takeaway a week in the winter but if ive eaten all my clean meals and feel hungry i might nip to greggs for a pasty for an extra meal, i dont feel guilty about it or sh*t im going to put on another 1% bodyfat this cycle.

How i see it is if you can add more muscle and low amount of fat, then when you decide to cut your bodyfat then been 20% is much harder to get off than 5% but we are all not that gifted and have to add the same amount of lbs of bodyfat as we do lbs of muscle, you have to be in a calorie excess to add weight to your frame so IMO that means that you do have to add bodyfat when bulking the key is balance between muscle and fat once you have that you will know you body.

I do not tend to worry too much about my diet when bulking. So long as my protein intake is high and constant then I'm ok.

I know a guy who for the first 3 months of bulking for a show has a pizza every night for his meal. When I say pizza I mean one of those huge stuffed crust things from Domino's that are about 1000 calories a slice.

I know a guy who is allergic to all carbs and veg. He can only eat protein/fat from non-veg sources, mostly roast chickens. He's huge, incredibly fit, always below/around 6%, though he does do hours of cardio most days too.
