How do I convince my girlfriend?

Posted also in Diet forum thanks if you replied there. STATS: 5ft 7 Dress size 8/10 Here is the situation. My girlfriend has started back at gym since october. Originally she mainly did cardio and the odd bit of gimicky girly weight machines. As her aim is to get bikini toned/athletic look I convinced her that she needed an organised weights workout aswell as cardio. She was convinced and has been following it for a few months. The problem lies with her diet! Here is roughly her daily diet (note im trying to persuade her to have a protein shake after training but really struggling!!) 07.40 – Breakfast Bran Flakes and milk 11:10 Snack a Jack 12.25 – 13.25 Wholemeal meat sandwich Yoghurt 15:30 – TRAIN x 3 a week 16:30 Protein Shake 18:30 Main Meal 22:00 Yoghurt x 2 TOTALS Protein = 78g (122g with protein shake) Carbs = 168g Cals = 1500 I personally dont believe this is enough. Also at 11.10 she only has a rushed 10 mins to eat something, hence the snack a jack. Her arguments range from "I dont want to get fat" , "I dont have a big appetite", "I cant fit as much food in my stomach as you" etc How do I convince her she needs to eat more? Also roughly how much should she be eating?

There are a few things you could point out: 1) If she's not 'getting hungry', potentially her metabolisms quite slow and she's not helping herself to stay in optimum condition. By getting to the stage where she's actually hungry before she eats means her metabolic furnace if you like, is going ten to the dozen, helping her to stay in shape. 2) No protein = no toned look Why is she soooo against protein shakes? Do you have a not very nice tasting shake for her? What about a protein bar instead of Snackajacks at 11? And she could throw in some cottage cheese at 10pm instead of sugary yogurts... She's also missing any form of essential fats - does she eat oily fish or eggs or even Steak once a week? This will help with cals for sure... Dont make her think of volume of food, thats quite a scary prospect, just try to build up her meals slowly... I recently had a client who I gave MORE food to and aho actually LOST weight. Two stone to be precise...
