How do you begin to choose posing music?

I really need to get on this... first comp is 3rd July. I'm rubbish at music at the best of times! Inspire me? What have you posed to in the past, what would you pose to if you don't compete, what have you seen fall totally flat?

5 weeks !! Are you doing Physique now with a routine ? I think Annie mentioned you were doing that class now instead of figure For a routine, I would chose music you like which has a good beat to it, which is a song that most people in the audience will know. There's nothing worse IMO than someone coming on with a random bit of music nobody knows. If you can get people in the audience clapping along with the music it's fab For a T walk you have to be careful you don't choose music which is either too fast or too slow as it's hard to keep a rhythm. I really wanted to use Flo & the machine - You've got the love but it's too slow to walk to BUT would be good as a routine I prefer to choose songs that aren't really, really current then you minimize the chances of someone else in your class having the same song - would be like same dress at a party syndrome Hope all is going well, see you in a few weeks ! x

You learn for Physique, whether you like slow or fast music and what you pose more comfortably to. My first ever posing song (for Figure) was a Pink song, really slow start, lovely song. I always wanted to be one of those people who could pose to really really upbeat stuff, but I can't. Now I settle for something either with a few lines in that I can work around, or a song that naturally makes me smile because then I know I'll be smiling onstage. If I ever had to do a T-Walk (and I do consider it from time to time), I have my music ready in my head - I heard a song last year and know it would make the BEST T-Walk, and I've never heard anyone use it too woop! I don't know if this post was helpful, but from our email convo's Nic, I liked the music you selected, it can really bring the house down!

Oh good! thank you - I'd like to use it but don't want to if it would be seen as mega-cheesy or has been done to death. I'm with you in that I don't think I could pose to something fast. I'd like to do more of a dramatic, big poses kind of thing. :)
