How do you cook brown rice??

Hi all,
I bought some brown rice the other day, followed the intructions to the letter, but they were still hard, the steps were
rinse in cold water
boil water
put rice in and bring to boil,
turn heat to simmer and cover for 20-25 minutes.
 
I did that but the water hadnt soaked and the rice was still hard,
 
Any tips?
 
 

just cook it a bit longer keep checking  it tho , to be honest brown rice seems to vary in cook times for me, anywhere from 25 -35 mins have been known ha . White rice is def easier to master .
 

I literally cook it like you do but add some Curry Powder to the water, gives it a slightly different (and much better) taste! 
 
Run through with cold water, add cold water to the pan with rice, cook on high heat until the water is pretty much boiling over and then lower and leave to simmer for 20-30 minutes. It's just really obvious when it's cooked...

sainsburys boil in the bag brown rice, cheap and so easy to cook.

if your going to eat rice near on everyday then i would reccomend buying a rice cooker, i bought one last year, so easy to cook rice in, just add water, then rice, switch it on and away you go, cooker turns off when rice is cooked.

I have a steamer that goes in the microwave.  I use it for rice, veggies etc.  Keeps more of the nutrients so I'm told.
