Incredible Bulk

if you have savings expect the dole office to flip you the bird...

they will pry into your parents (despite age) and partners finances also to see if they can support you rather than claim social.

i had to deal with these fckers 7 years ago and i still resent the memory

Ib they wont look at anyones finances that isn't living with you or atleast they def shouldn't

as for the savings i believe the limit is 16k over which you are not entitled to JSA or Income Support- anything over 6k will result in your JSA being lowered  to the tune of £1 per week per every £250 over the 6k limit you have saved. Which they quite astonishingly assume to be earnings from said savings!

my last piece of advice would be regardles of situation don't take the advice of the civil servants who don't give a flying fcuk and are to lazy to help you, places like cab are confidential and free and actually can help

FLMFAO - had two of my ex-bosses texting earlier with are you ok?
One is cool so I replied normally and said I am fine but the place sucks.

The other, who is a bell end of the highest order, got this text reply:  **** is not here at the moment. Please leave a message.

I have some horrid memories of my short time at the job centre (about 3 months in last 9 years).

It really scares me a lot to think one day I may need to go back..I play the lottery each week and as strange as it sounds I put so much hope into winning but havent done so far.

The job centre for me isnt so much the people who are down there but the feeling of worry about the future.

You in a totally different situation though as you have a years back up to live on if need be and an excellent education - I had neither at the time.

Im glad to see everyone thinks those people who work in Jobcentres are wankers, I rarely be anything but helpful and nice to customers tho you do get your scumbags as well.

Cloudstrife, I also find that some of the staff behave differently towards different jobseekers. I never had a problem when I signed on 10 years ago, they were all pretty nice and friendly towards me but I'd hear people in the queue next to me complaining that it was the dragon woman again. I think a lot of it is how they are treated in return. Slightly off topic but my mother used to work in a cafe and there were so many customers that would be impolite and almost have the attitude that just because my Mum worked in a cafe she was not worth being pleasant towards. I suppose many go into the JC with a similar attitude and have their backs up immediately.
