How good is USN IGF-1 ?
14 January 2012 23:31
( permalink)
Popped into Tesco as needed some protein before I had time to get some online. Got some USN IGF-1 in chocolate...very nice it is too. Just wondered what people thought of this blend as it tastes great and doesn't sit too heavy on the stomach, so wondered if this was a good long term bet? All opinions welcome :)

I really like it, like you say, good blend, also mixes well and tastes great. Not much more you could want

It's ok, a blend of whey, calcium caseinate and soy. Usn use a proprietary blend so you don't know how much of any it contains, something I tend to avoid. Personally I tend to go for a whey and micellar casein product separately but if you'd rather have a blend there re better and worse options than this.

I bought a tub and got sick of it half way through, was a bit too sweet and thick for me.

USN are decent products, I understand their ingredient tested as well, so there's peace of mind that what it says you get you do get.

Protein blend consisting of a precise mixture of whey protein isolate, whey protein concentrate, calcium caseinate, egg albumen and soy protein isolate. Seems an ok blend to me, ok what your saying is the ratios, but the blend per-se is good and you know what it says is in there is in actual fact in there

I'd sooner take an ingredients tested product the some COA for example.

Used it before, strawberry was very nice. As for if it's good, it's a protein supplement. It does what it does lol, which is help you fulfill your protein needs for the day.

Did you get the old version or the new version? They've recently changed formulas. Just curious as I know old / new taste a little different.

PeggysDad How would I know? I think the new one includes soy but the old one was just whey / casein / egg - pretty sure that's right...someone else can correct me if I'm off lol! :)

The old version tasted better then the new.. Why so much soy? Does that not tend to increase estrogen levels?

Soy can be masked very easily taste wise! Tesco afaik have testing protocol in place for their suppliers not sure if this extends to supplements or what they test for but the protocol is in place.
An Alterego is a paradoxical escape.

How do you know there's "so much soy" when it's a prop blend with no indication of the mounts, I'm referring to USN?

^Precisely and at least it is labelled correctly. Where is soy on the list of ingredients that will give you an idea of the amount.

AlterEgo ^Precisely and at least it is labelled correctly. Where is soy on the list of ingredients that will give you an idea of the amount. It's last on the list mate, it makes me laugh actually as here you have an ingredients tested product, yet the majority of posters go huba huba over a COA which tells you nothing about the contents!!

So not a lot then. Just checked the label and protein % - it is 6th on the list so a MAX of 7grams per 100grams if even this amount.
