How many grams of protien??

Hello, Just wanted some advice on how much protien i should take to bulk/gain muscle?? for example if i weigh 13st, approx how many grams of protien should i be taking per day? at the moment im having 3 shakes a day, each containing around 45g of protien im taking one in the morning, one after training and one before bed. Is this too much protien?? Would appricate any help! Thanks

It's more than just protein you need to consider. You need to think about a meal plan which will give enough calories to add weight i.e surplus. A rough guide to protein requirements it is suggested you should be taking about 1 to 1 and half grams of protein per lb of body weight that would make approx 175-265 grams for you.

you need to base the calculation on your lean weight. if you are 13 stone now, or 182lbs, how lean are you? if you are very lean, then shoot for 1.5 - 2g of protein per pound of bodyweight, if you have 20lbs of fat to shift, then base it on 1.5 - 2g for 162 lbs weight (if that makes sense) you need to split your eating into six or seven meals a day, and split you protein across all of these. i would go for something like 40% protein 40% carbs 20% fat for a calorie breakdown, see how that works for you and make adjustments as you go. some people may need more carbs some people will need far less carbs.
