It is not matter if you are trying to lose weight or muscle building. 5-6 smaller meals are necessary for our main health. And of course it is the best choice for those who lose weight and gain muscle.
5-6 small meals balance blood sugar so we dont feel hungry in a day and this way also keeps our energy levels higher so we dont feel tired, in fact by the energy in our body we do more sports or workouts. 5-6 smaller meals in a day speeds up our metabolism so we burn more calories than normal.
When we have 5-6 small meals in a day, we take all essential nutritients in right amounts.
Eating every 3 hours in a day should be your daily routine.

MEAL FREQUENCY IN THE RANGE 3 TO 6 PER DAY MAKES NO SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE TO METABOLIC RATE.

READ THE INFORMATION IN THE LINK I POSTED.

Nigel with all due respect the link posted is of no meaning to me. I know what works best for me, and my advice to the op is exactly that, my advice.

but you're advising based on one person, yourself, would it not be much more constructive to offer advise based upon scientific findings, collected from a much wider pool of people?

The age old, well it works for me is nothing but a get out clause, there's no reasoning behind it, nothing to back it up and it relies on one person having tried other methods too and giving a fair balanced review.

I understand what works for me may not work for him, im simply giving my advice based on my experiences. What else do people do? Base advice they give on something they have no experience with personally? seems a strange thing to say tbh, its all about trial and error.

Like i said, it';s a get out clause. it's not all about trial and error, you know why? because science removes the trial and error part, you just completely dismissed the science using an argument that you, just one person, knows what works, for you. dont dismiss the science based on 'what works for you' especially when science proves that is not what works for tghe majority.

some things work better for others, but in this case there's plenty of science to back hujp that in fact the other option could work just as well for you.

Did the idea of 6 meals per day not just come from the fatc that you can't physically get that much food down you in 2 meals. When I didn't train I would eat three massive (mountained) plate fulls of food per day, to live and function. Esp when i was younger with a stupidly fast motabolism, it would be more. If I'm bulking It could be 6 plate fulls of food in a day, not just a few bits and bobs on a plate, a big plate full, 6 times. If i were to eat this in 2 or 3 meals i would need to eat in the garden from a troth!
