Those figures sound good to me mate exept the evening one. I would make it more like 50g protein from whey plus the protein from the milk. You need to give your body alot to feed on as your intake in zero while you sleep and this is when the major repair to muscles happens.

PWO at your size I would go for 50g protein plus 30-40g of dextrose depending on what your meatabolism is like.

The amount you have in the morning is only really enough to end the fast from sleeping so make sure you get some food type protein down your neck about 30mins after that.

When you say 50g of whey do you mean 50g of actual powder, or the amount of powder that gives you 50g of protein? PWO i have 80g of whey but its only about 50g actual protein.

These figures should be your actual protein intake:

    Morning - 25g in water
    After workout - 50g in water with 30-40g dextrose/glucose
Before bed - 50g in milk

    Hope that makes sense dude

Well 2 scoopes (which i said is 50g) of Elite whey amounts to 44g of actual protein according to what it says on the internet about the product. Thanks for the help.

What you're having sounds fine, but no one can tell you how much you should take without taking into account your weight, aims and current diet. After all it's perfectly possible to make great gains in size and strength without ever touching the stuff.

in order to put on muscle you would need , on a dialy basis, about 1 gramme of protein per lb of bodyweight. you weigh 196lbs so would need between 196 grammes of protein per day.

it's is generally said that the body can't process more than 50 grammes of protein at a time, so you need to space your protein intake over the course of the day (every three - four hours).

if you don't like protein shakes, then you can always get good protein from canned tuna, turkey, chicken, and lean beef.

Whey is not essential but is used by alot of people for its fast release protein characteristic that can be used to optimise nutrient delivery to your muscles. The two main times you want fast releasing protein are as soon as you have woken up to end the fast from sleeping and immediately after training to provide the nutrients for the muscles to rebuild.

If you are having stomach problems from using a protein powder then it may be high in lactose which has been known to upset the stomach. Many protein powders are designed to be 'virtually lactose free' and may be more suitable for you.

It is widely argued on MT that 1g per pound of bodyweight is not enough to efficiently grow muscle. Most people suggest 1.5-2g per pound of bodyweight. I know for a fact that my gains are dismal unless im getting the upper amount of those figures. Do you grow from the amount you intake?

I would also say that protein should be consumed more regularly than every 3-4 hrs, more like every 2-3 hours. However, this will depend on what the entire diet looks like. For example I have a shake in the morning then 30 mins later consume a solid protein meal. Then PWO I have a shake then an hour later a full meal, then its every 2-2.5 hrs from then on.

I might start taking it again just for PWO with another brand.

I was using the Body Fortress Precision Engineered flavoured Whey from H&B.

Im currently using the Body Fortress Muscle and Weight Gainer from H+B. Of all the different weight gainers I've tried this has been by far the most effective and it doesn't even contain WPC! I think the bulk of the protein comes from egg powder!

Dirty Dog, ive got a whackkin great tub of this gear sittin in my room but i had to stop using it cos the reccomended amount in milk was like drinking melted chocolate, i.e. waaay too thick to enjoy!
Now is it worth me continuing to use this (have you make noticeable gains?) and would it be ok to use in water? Would it be ok to take alongside my 3xa day whey? Sorry if these are stupid q's!

LMAO, the chocolate flavour is fu*king grim. Get strawberry next time

I know what you mean about it being thick, mine got really foamy as well when I shook it up. From what i can remember I just used more milk to thin it out so it was drinkable but there was still a foamy slurry like mixture in the bottom when I finished. IMO just add more milk or use half the amount of powder in 500ml of milk to use it up then never buy that flavour again!

You could use it alongside the whey but you need to take into account its got alot of calories each serving so compare this too you calories per serving from your whey. Personally I would just replace one of the whey shakes with one of these.

Never tried it in water but it would probably be less thick, but taste like sh1t.

Had a look on my calender and last time I used a tub it lasted 2 weeks and I put on 6lb. The time before that it was 3lb. However, I was using more than the recommended serving each time and I had a really good diet. My gains are always lean gains because im naturally lean and have an active lifestyle/job.

I've tried many different brands of weight gainer and none seem to help like that stuff so im using it again as of a week ago. I'll let you know how the gains go.

Where in Bristol you from? I live the other side of Shepton Mallet
