How's my new bulking diet? 20 November 2009 16:44 (permalink)

  Male, 26yrs, 5'8", 11st0lbs, 14%bf.

    Hi Guys,

I am looking to gain some mass. Last year i got quite chubby after not training for ages. I lost over 2 stone over the course of a few months and got nice and lean. Of course i'm not holding much mass now and so i'd like to put on some quality weight over the next few months. I understand that i am bound to put on some fat in the process.

I have tried working out my BMR etc and i have come up with a daily total of around 2800 calories to lean bulk. Obviously i will keep an eye on things and adjust the cals up or down accordingly. What should i be looking for on the scales though? maybe a gain of 1lb weight per week?

         Here's my diet:

Breakfast: 40g whey, 50g oats, 250 ml skimmed milk.
Workout @ 10am
PWO: 40g whey, 80g Dextrose/Maltodextrin. (is 80g sugar too much?)
lunch: chicken noodle stir fry made from scratch (I will put the recipe in the recipe section!) kiwi
snack: tortilla wrap with chicken/pork, salad and a bit of reggae reggae sauce, apple
Supper: 6egg whites, 2 yolks on two toast, spread of olive based margarine, tangerine
bed: 40g instant milk protein, slice of toast and tbsp peanut butter, 2 x EFA caps

i make this to be around 2700 cals, 65g fat, 330g carbs, 240g protein.

Is that too many carbs?

Thanks for any assistance!

Should the macros be 40:40:20 ideally? Because my diet is about
    50 carbs: 40 protein: 10fat
i should probably drop some carbs in favour of fats maybe?

mate, your worrying too much!  what do you typically eat at the moment?

can you give us some idea of the meal times?

carbs definately arent too high imo, in fact i would increase the amounts of carbs, especially at breakfast, which i would make 100g oats minimum.  what time is breakfast?

well i work funny shifts, on my workout days i do split shifts, basically around school hours so 0730-0940 and then from 1530-2200. i workout straight after work at about 10am. So my breakfast is about 0830 and my PWO is at 11. I have the stir fry an hour later and then the rest of the meals are every 3 hours or so.
Yeah i probably do worry too much! just want to make a good start and i will feel more comfortable as i tweak it all i think!
