Hull - City of Culture 2017

I've never been to Hull. What's it like?

I think we're too negative about the UK especially the North
I'm London born and bred but I love the north.

It's only a big deal if you make it a big deal.

Its a shi*hole.

Been there about 500 times and its a shi*hole.

Lots of immigrants who have come in hanging on to trucks walking about around Alexandra and King George docks with nothing but an bag of clothes.  That's probably the 'culture' aspect.

I only pass through on my way to the ferry, so I couldn't give a fair opinion. The bridge is a very impressive sight when you drive near it . Its incredible that people can build something that size. The bit I pass through looks a bit of a dump, but I don't know what the rest of the city is like.

Tbf L'Derry got it a couple of times I believe, it's a sh1thole with terrorists running about it so maybe Hull deserves a crack at it.

Depends on your definition of a cockney. But perhaps so, yes.

Nah I'm not a pearly king. That's proper cockney. I was born above a pub in Leytonstone though.

Hull is a bit of a hole too be fair, cheap to buy a house! Like any city it has it's good and bad areas, and I think it is improving.

There's plenty of much better cities up north including Newcastle, York, Sheffield, Durham, Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool etc.

In fact Hull is potentially the most deprived city in the north in my opinion.

Yep, Hull is a massive dump. I don't really want to be fair about the place but it has definitely improved quite a lot over the last 10 years.....to become the dump it is today.

interesting to see Sheffield classed as a better city come away from city centre and majority of it is no go areas and not safe to walk round
Like someone mentioned City of culture tag is BS a woeful attempt of trying to make feel good but a huge waste of tax payers money by regions what win it

Hull is the second worse place I have ever been to in the uk. Only Blackpool where I live is worse. ****ing **** holes. Can blame successive governments for allowing it to happen.
