Why do people keep using IMO on every thread, the fact you’re posting an answer to a question or taking part in the discussion is evidence enough that it is in fact ‘Your opinion’, unless references are being made to other peoples opinions or scientific fact... IMHO!!!

if you dont write IMO people automatically assume your trying to pass off your opinion as fact as you haven't wrote 'IMO' It usually involves some members lynching you with flaming torches and pitchforks in hand

Is your life that small? I mean really, a new thread about something people want to do? An example: It's best if you keep the volume high for that mate - Could come accross as a fact IMO it's best if you keep the volume high for that mate - No confusion with this one

Insight Why do people keep using IMO on every thread, the fact you’re posting an answer to a question or taking part in the discussion is evidence enough that it is in fact ‘Your opinion’ What? It's just an acronym for 'in my opinion'. Are you saying that the phrase 'in my opinion' is redundant in the English language? "A lot of people say high reps are better for growth but IMO lower reps work better" What exactly is wrong with that?

I put IMO when making a strong statement, I do so because I think it shows a certain recognition that just because its my opinion doesnt neccesitate thats its correct. Personally I think its a good thing when used correctly. Of course 99% of the time my opinion and reality are the same thing.

It's funny , in real life we seem to respect each others opinions , or at least accept them - But on the net differing opinions usually lead to an all out fight to the death

I like to use IMO and I'd prefer it if more people did so to. I'm guilty of being one of the angry pitchfork mob.
No biggie like, there are a lot worse things for you than using steroids, I mean I probably shouldn't have been smoking crack or getting into bar fights at your age TBH - drab4

Dr Z It's funny , in real life we seem to respect each others opinions , or at least accept them - But on the net differing opinions usually lead to an all out fight to the death It is funny and incidentally the point of this thread, the strong reactions received were kind of expected. A forum is meant to be a place in which people exchange ideas, views, proven facts and general opinions on subjects. Why are people so afraid of stating something outside of mainstream thinking, or writing a reply to a question without the use of IMO, one would assume anything written would be opinion unless other wised referenced or stated. Does it boil down to a lack of confidence in your own opinion or are you just scared of the “online lynching’s” kind of seems a bit pathetic IMO.
