www.ted.com

Incredible website, shows you the latest thinking in all sorts of issues from behavioural sciences to physics. Some great and very famous speakers including Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Malcolm Gladwell, Dan Ariely, Dan Kahneman etc.

You can't watch some of these clips and not be inspired!

Let me know what you think.

ROFL, he's all about making money for Al Gore Inc, nothing more.  If he believed even a fraction of what he claims he wouldn't have blown millions on a sea side condo in San Degio now would he?

At Copenhagen he was even flogging photo ops at $1,000 a shot.

Saw an article about TED in the Sunday Mail this week just gone.

It does look very interesting. I have to say when I saw Al Gore as a "great speaker and motivational individual" I did think there must be a different Al Gore at TED.

Don't all the guest speakers have a maximum of 18 minutes to speak on their chosen subject? Bit of pressure to say the least when it's televised live worldwide!

I only discovered it a couple of weeks ago and I must have spent 20 hours on there so far since then. I find I have to ration myself otherwise I spend all day just watching videos and doing nothing productive :(

Really interesting, I remember doing the 99% false positive problem in my first year probability course, I remember when I got the answer using Bayes Theorem that I must have made a horrible mistake, but it subsequently turned out not to be the case to my surprise. The mistake by the paediatrician is truly awful, just the assumption of independence is a massive mistake in itself nevermind the misinterpretation of the data. I truly believe Doctors should be allowed anywhere near statistics judging by the people I've met at uni studying medicine and their corresponding mathematical understanding.
