kitty Tac, less tax would be needed because there would be less job seekers allowance being paid!! There might be a small handful of people who would like to employ a cleaner but are on the borderline of being able to afford it for whom the tax break would be enough to sway their opinion and employ someone who otherise would be on JSA but, even assuming that the person who you employed was on job seekers beforehand (as opposed to working somewhere else), then, since a cleaning job isnt going to be way over minimum wage, they'd just be getting working tax credit instead so it wouldnt make much difference. And, since plenty of these jobs already exist, we'd mostly just be giving a tax break to people that can already afford to employ a cleaner, who already isnt claiming jobseekers since she's working as a cleaner... which tax break will still then need to be covered by clawing back more tax elsewhere. I really dont see what's wrong with the existing system. If someone wants a cleaner and can afford one then they can go right ahead and hire one. This makes them worthy of a special tax concession how? I dont get a tax break on the money I pay my window cleaner to clean my windows. I dont get a tax break on the money I pay the dry cleaners to clean my coat. I dont get a tax break if I pay someone to wash my car. So why should someone else get a tax break because they choose to pay someone to clean their house?

Is it not just smoke and mirrors? If they want to give tax breaks give us all one then we can decide what to spend it on ourselves then as a by product it will find it's way through the economy. These c**ts always think they know how to spend our money better than we do.

Booker an, I so wish that was true! There are plenty things I would rather my tax go to and wish there was an option box we could tick to say what we preferred our tax to be spent on in what portions

tac I dont get a tax break on the money I pay my window cleaner to clean my windows. I dont get a tax break on the money I pay the dry cleaners to clean my coat. I dont get a tax break if I pay someone to wash my car. So why should someone else get a tax break because they choose to pay someone to clean their house? The only place the govt should really be looking to reduce taxes is increasing the personal allowance. That is something that benefits most earners to a worthwhile degree. It doesn't cost anything to administer either. On the cleaner issue, I've just noticed they have a similar scheme here in Singapore. Married Singaporean women get a very large tax break if they employ a foreign maid. This is on the grounds it means Singaporean women will have more Singaporean babies.
