Saw this the other day, tax breaks if you take on a cleaner or a chef. Camerons clearly got his finger on the pulse of the common working man/woman.

But it does allow someone earning a little more to help lower unemployment by taking on a cleaner.

So the suggestion is we would have more women in senior managment/board positions if they didn't have to do as much washing up?

it is a sexist idea BUT we live in a world where women are often not paid equally to men in similar roles etc so maybe this means we need somthing like this to make it swing further our way?

Well no.. there should be legislation to ensure equal pay for equal work... This type of legislation that benefits just one section of society ends up being dividing us further... I live in Finland, one of the most equal places you can live with with much less division between men and women... BUT, they still have national service, JUST FOR MEN.... funny old world..

RobW No I agree 100%... My wife and I split it based on what we dislike least LOL, that's exactly what my hubbie said when we moved in together. He said he would do the washing up, then went out and bought a dish washer, said he would do the garden then got a gardener, then said he would do the vacuuming and got a cleaner in!! I was left with the washing, ironing and cooking!! No chef or laundry maiden for me LOL!! Haven't got any now, I do the lot (I work few hours from home, he's out full time so it's only fair)

surely equality should be about creating equal opportunity for everyone - not just rewarding people of a certain 'group' from being for that group by forcing quotas? what next - not enough black CEO's so a certain amount of CEO's have to be black? then we have enough woman CEO's and enough black CEO's...but not enough black woman CEO's...so need more black woman CEO's! i always found it incredulous that when applying for jobs you have to fill out a form stating your ethnicity. gender. political perspective for equal employment purposes. its so retarded it doesnt need explaining how its so retarded. its so retarded words and explanations will never give it full justice as to how retarded it is :( as for this the sexism is the least of the problems here, its the obvious upper class entitlement we expect to see from cameron and the tories being delivered to us on a diamond encrusted platter. obviously if anything came of this idea the media would find a way to spin it so the public (and majority of MT members) would love it in the odd case this ridiculous idea actually goes anywhere ill bump this thread :P
Current goals: get back in the game

Kaldog, actually agree with your first part of your post. Yes, apply it to race and it makes you see it differently! As for filling out the forms, they're not usually compulsory and are just for national stats office. If people on a higher income bracket can help employment by having domestic help, is that really such a bad thing? That's how society used to run, I know we need to progress but distribution of wealth in that manner is surely better than people being dole scroungers?
