Is this too much for classes? 10 November 2009 19:07 (permalink)
Been looking around our area and found a Kuk Sool Won school.  Pretty new but building quite fast.  Ticks all the boxes for me, friendly, varying, welcoming for beginners (as I am!), good atmosphere etc.  Sticking point for me is price.  When we asked about the price he said it varys depending on how often you want to train but think the minimum for one class a week was 26.00 pcm direct debited out of bank, and went up to 42.00 pcm for training as much as you want.  At present think there are 3 classes per week suitable for beginner adults, although th instructor said he is looking at getting a full time dojo soon and with this more classes available.

What do people think? if it were a gym id be thinking it was a bit more than id normally spend a month.  Value as you are getting the wisdom of the instructors? a lot cheaper than a few beers a week? or a rip off?

many thanks.

I'd say those prices are pretty standard, but I've heard before that prices can vary a fair bit around the country. It will be better value when he has more classes tho. I pay £42 a month for unlimited classes in about 4 different styles and you can train 5 days a week, this is in our own dojo. I choose to just train on 2-3 of those days though due to other commitments. I used to pay £50 a month for unlimited BJJ classes a week up to 6 times a week.

perhaps a little pricey at £26 for one class per week but £42 unlimited is not bad providing there is sufficient slots.

I pay £32 for my Krav / month which gives me the potential for 4 lessons per week and £29 for Muay Thai and I can train from Monday to Friday and do more than 1 lesson in the evening (if I ever have the energy)
