Sounds like you've got you head in a good place and you also have the support of Carl which really will make a big difference.

I'm sure Mr G wouldn't let me make an ass of myself....well not a wobbly ass anyway hehehehe! The daunting thing is we may be dieting at the same time so we may not even speak for about 3 months :0) Ahhhh the peace! I was having a chat with a friend the other day and I caught myself using my 'get out clause' of age and she pulled me up on it and said it was bllx. I know it's bllx and I know I was using it as an excuse for failure but she made me realise that by doing so I was actually setting myself up to fail....so the crux of the matter is...no excuses for me or thee!!!! x

That makes me feel better its not just me who gets like that Tan :-)

I don't mind being a little negative, I just hate people who are like uber positive, say everything's going amazingly, and then come out looking standard.... At least I say it's going cr@p and I'm cr@p and then come out a bit better than expected lol...

But nope, no more negativity. But, as a result, I'm gonna stay away from most clubs next year I think. I'm like a racehorse, I need blinkers! Maybe I'll get better as self-confidence improves... :-) I'll stop you being negative if you help me :-)

Today, little baby steps being taken 1) Ate some broccolli 2) Refused a Krispy Kreme Carl had bought especially for me. I don't need it so am making a positive step in not eating it just because. Feel pretty smug today and pleased I'm making positive steps forward.

I can make a deal on that.

With me it's more 'excuses' that sound like I'm being positive but actually am just letting myself set it all up to fail ie. I'm going to be the best I can be...but at 40 I'm hardly going to be making waves on the BB scene.'

See positive...straight into cop out!!!!!!! The mind is a clever thing...even mine ;0)

So, today was my first Strictly FIT class. This morning ran like a dream, everyone really enthusiastic and happy to do whatever.

This afternoon (and this is why I hate classes) was a nightmare. Picture your guy in his lycra unitard looking a bit like Mister Motivator.

Said guy, was infact, muscle-bound, in a tight vest with his mahogany skin on show... We start, and within 10minutes he pipes up "I have a question" (I didn't even say 'If youhave any questions just ask', cos I really don't care).
He asks why we're stepping forward on our right foot, when he's been taught in the past to step forward on his left.
We were warned about guys like him....
I've ballroom danced from 5-21 years of age, I think I might know what I'm doing.

I politely answer, that whilst, his way is a perfectly feasible way of doing said step, and that I was taught like him previously, the way I was taught to instruct the class was to use the other foot. And that in the grand scheme of things, dancing around a ballroom, it really doesn't matter.

Him, and his female partner Miss-I've-Clearly-Done-Classes-Before, decide to do their own thing and ignore me the rest of the session.

At the end, I ask everyone to please approach me to give feedback as I truly value it and he says "Are you going to do it on the correct foot next week, your way's clearly wrong", I smile sweetly and say that perhaps if he has already had experience dancing, perhaps this isn't the class for him as I wouldn't want him to become confused.

          KNOB.

I hope he doesn't come back. Or her. I ranted to Carl on the way home (who by the way, was a star pupil) and I'm just re-telling my tale on here for your amusement.

The morning class was amazing, they even cracked a smile!! So, for future reference, stay away from gym bunnies and rats in classes, if they have matching outfits, you're in trouble... :-/

I am pleased with myself this weekend. I watched Carl eat Chinese and said I didn't want any. I just had a shake and ate some S'n'V Rice Cakes - that was quite a treat!

Had horrific pains in side though for about 5 hours, today, have what resemble lady pains but no other evidence :-(

Carl did roast dinner today, have eated clean 6 days in a row, today's roast being the exception, then had some Quality Street after as it was exactly what I fancied!

Weight still sitting nicely at 9st 8lbs, amazingly, only 1lb more than this time 3 years ago! WOWSERS!

New training split starts tomorrow, 100 reps are no more!

                  hey flick!

missed a few days posts, but going back to the previous pages post.  Nice positive post, good to see, and exactly the right approach to take, as said by others already!  Every show should be given 100% not just enough to qualify.  Aim for a show win, rather than a place in the finals.  You get the win, you get the finals place as well!  and if you can come into the qualifier at your best ever, then you can improve further for the finals!!!  If you come in at 80% for the qualifier, you might not even make best ever shape for the finals!

thats a high rep session!  no wonder you cant wait for a new split!  Care to share the new training plan?

BODY TEMPLE  GASPARI & SYNTRAX rep.

Dazc - new plan looks like this:
                      MON - Heavy legs (compounds)
                      TUES - Chest and Shoulders
                      WEDS - OFF
                      THURS - Back and Arms
FRI - High-rep legs (shaping movements)

Will cardio as and when I feel like it. Am definitely getting better at it :-)

Today did legs, at the gym of Incredible Bulk. Loved it, it was just like Forest Gym, and Cheetahs's (to an extent!).

                      SQUATS
                      40kgs 12 reps
                      60kgs 12 reps
                      70kgs 8 reps
                      80kgs 5 reps
(Not bad, but I wanted higher reps on the 80kgs)

                      LEG PRESS
                      80kgs 12 reps
140kgs 10 reps (no messing around!)
                      160kgs 7 reps
(7th rep possibly doesn't count. Hilariously (first time happened in years), I went so deep, charged it up, then got completely stuck halfway. Eyes were tight shut so I couldn't see anything but I could feel the weight going nowhere so I let out an Argghhhhh but still felt no help from Carl. Eyes still shut I yelled 'Heelllp' and entrance-man got off his chair but Carl finally got the message and helped the weight up!! I couldn't get angry with Carl for being sh1te spotter as I couldn't really see what was going on!!!

                      SLDL
                      40kgs 12 reps
                      60kgs 10 reps
                      70kgs 6 reps
(As we're loading the 70kgs set, I announce to Carl, "Kerry Napier said, if I want to look like VickyMC, I have to lft as heavy as her then I might have a change." Carl didn't seem v.impressed by that philosophy but grinned as I went up to 70kgs - I never normally do)

                      LYING HAMSTRING CURL
                      15kgs, 15 reps
                      25kgs 8 reps
                      20kgs 12 reps

My legs hurt already!!! I just hope I can walk by Friday!

                            Leggies = ouch!

But from where hammies, glutes and quads ALL hurt EQUALLY, I'm not walking around like John Wayne - just not able to bend down all that easily... ;-)

Trained Shoulders and Chest today - Shoulders went quite well but I seem to be getting weaker and weaker in my Chest :-( I could only Bench 45kgs today for 4 reps - it might've been cos I did Shoulders first though... ;-)

I'm doing it because my legs are my current priority. And I figured if Shoulders and Chest work together in movements, then why not train them together? Except my Chest work is suffering as delts get pre-exhausted doing Shoulders... Will change the split in the New Year anyway but hope my leggies make some progress in the meantime.

So today another positive step in the path of a positive mind. I am totally on-board that if I will be able to stand on-stage, and will be able to say "I've done 100% everythnig I could do", then I'll be a happy bunny" :-)

if your going to do shoulders and chest together, then it would be worth swapping round which one you start with each week, or the one trained second will never get a really good workout due to triceps etc being tired.

New split should really make some improvements on the legs though!!!

nice specific routine though, and lots of hard work, so you will indeed be able to think you did everything you could!  and thats the most that anyone can do!

Daz - I thought that too, I'm definitely going to switch them around... I also need to remember, I suck at flat benching, I can bench more with db's than I can flat!

I've focused on Shoulders and Biceps for a year solid now, so time to use the remaining 4 months before dieting time productiviely...

P.S. How can it only be 4 months?! Where did the other 12 go??! ;-D

I've never given it 100% coming up to a show, I've always given it about 80-90 (then when I didn't win there was a reason) - not anymore. I'm going to stand taller than anyone else in my 5'4" of glory and know that I've worked my a$$ off :-D

which show are you doing again?

now your off the really high rep stuff the weights should go up pretty quick, but what you can bench matters little on stage! also i think db bench is probably better for growth on the chest anyway, as it gets a much better contraction and squeezes the muscle at the top, where BB bench misses that part of the movement!
