Bloke Sorry its not looking good for Sunday. My membership at David Lloyd is up at the end of the month, I can't justiy a 35 mile round trip to the gym any longer and going after work means I don't get home until 8. I've joined a small gym closer to home which has enough for 2 of my weights workouts and when work calms down a bit I'll have a chance of training at lunchtime. I train chest on Saturdays and am going to train that at cheetahs when I'm down in Brighton anyway, its only £3.50 to train at there at weekends. Since Christmas I've only been using David Lloyd to train chest so that will be a fair saving. Hope your back starts feeling stronger soon. Didn't realise you lived so far - wondered why i hadn't seen you much recently. I don't blame you to be honest - i think if i was single and my GF didn't need the pool etc i'd be training at Cheetahs too. Good luck if i don't see you again! Jimbo

GRIFF 1980 Sorry to hear about the back mate, been plagued with back issues over the years so know how you feel, it can be so frustrating. Hopefully you will be back on form soon. Cheers Griff! I just love (or used to love) squatting and DLing. Guess its off the menu for at least a year until things are sorted. Decided im going to focus on aesthetics in the meantime. Jimbo

Weight this morning 84.5kg, bone dry. Just in the process of carbing up as i've decided to run the half marathon tomorrow. Have been very naughty: Dairly milk Can of Tizer KFC Ben's cookies Chocolate amd milk chocolate digestive milkshake ...who knows whats in store for the evening :) Im losing circa 0.5kg per week, got another 5 weeks or so to go so im aiming to end up around 82kg - i havn't been that weight since 2006. Hopefully this means i can get really lean for summer. My top two abs are starting to appear, but have lots of stubborn fat around belly area, lovehandles and lower back. Was considering getting a cutting supplement, not sure if its a good investment really. I could save it until summer for when im really stagnating with weight loss. Wish me luck tomorrow, aim is 1:50 ish if i don't pull out! Jimbo

Finished in 1:46:55 so not too bad considering no training. Awful conditions - heavy rain and windy. Had to wait for my GF at the end for 45 mins in the freezing rain, depressingly character buidling stuff! Unfortunately i've since caught gastroenteritis. Lots of nausea, tummy pain and diarrhoea. No chance of training this week, so i will rest up and eat clean, and attack next week. Almost feels like i've been sabotaged this year! Jimbo

Well done on the time, I'd be proud of that now. The gastro might help with the weight loss.

Update - think im over the worst part of the diarrhoea. I foolishly went into work yesterday, got halfway in and then realised i needed to find a loo! Got home (just in time) and spent an hour on the sh!tter, no exaggeration, but i will spare you the details! Weight is hovering around 86kg with slight bloat and im starting to eat some semi-normal food. May visit the gym on the weekend but won't push too hard, we don't want any accidents Jimbo

Felt a whole lot better over the weekend. Back eating normal food. The weekend hasn't been clean to be honest - had a poker night on Saturday (lamb and chicken kebabs, doritos, chocolate fingers etc) and my mum made lamb curry with corn flour rotis and yoghurt, which were simply devine. Managed to do some morning cardio and some weights. My back feels alot better and i may start trying front squats/DLs/and ab training next week. Weight is 84kg. 82kg may be possible by the end of the SUC, i havn't been this weight since 2006! Jimbo

Weight 85kg. Put on a kilo this week. Couple of things - diet has been lax, had three cheat days (!). I've also started training legs again and i generally feel stronger and bigger, leaner too. Nearly got a 4 pack peeping through. Im going to stick with how it going at the moment and not make any major changes. I don't mind getting heavier, as long as im leaner. I have the next two weeks off to really hammer cardio and weights. Jimbo

You'll make the 82kg for the end fella. It's well within your sights.
Awesome pic, but Tony you're not doing yourself many favours posting up tips on preventing the gag reflex and then a picture of a guy touching his toes - Ak

I don't think i'll make 82kg, im not sure i want to now! Slight change of plan in that im clean bulking for a couple of weeks (off from work). Cals are up a bit but im still maintaining cardio. I've introduced rowing intervals and KB circuits, which are fairly difficult but seem to be doing a nice job. To be honest the loss of muscle depressed me! Jimbo

Weight 86kg. Strength has gone up again after increasing cals. Bodyfat remains stable and may have added some muscle. Diet has not been totally clean but no major binges. A major personal highlight is that i've started front squatting and doing light deadlifts (currently on 90kg), back seems to be ok with this combination. Im back to work next week so will have to cut back on training, but as soon as its lighter in the mornings may be able to do morning runs in the park. Plan for photo day is a minor carb up the day before, with pics taken in the morning (as this is when i appear most lean). Jimbo

Deadlifting kicks ass How did you enjoy the half marathon? I did a full last year, it was f++king nasty, I would not recommend How are you looking for the finish line?

The half marathon didn't go too great, conditions were awful (heavy rain and freezing) and i wasn't really fully fit. No chance of doing a full marathon, i have worn cartilage in my right knee from years of running/squatting/football/squash. I've lost slight bodyfat overall. I was never looking to win as im not one for drastic changes, i could have carried on cutting but muscle and strength loss is rather depressing when you've trained for years to get where you are! I know what you mean - I'm trying to stick to lower impact stuff now after trolleying my knee last year with the running. The cutting/strength thing is a bit depressing - I had a great winter strenthwise but you've seen what it cost me in flab. I'd love to find a medium but lean bulking just seems so painfully slow.

Went abit off the rails over the weekend! Travelled to Guildford to catch up with a friend, the missus and i ended up staying over. Friday evening was a four course meal at a lovely seafood restaurant. Saturday we went to my favourite south african pub and had another three course meal - main was a gorgeous rack of 'south african' sized ribs, beef kebab, lamb chop and boerewors, washed down with a bottle of Buitenverwachting :) Sat night followed with yummy lamb shanks and roasties. And at the end maybe a couple of kilos heavier, but very satisfied After the indulgence of the weekend plan is clean eating this week, no alcohol, although have a dinner out thurs. Jimbo
