I've been using this for a few days now so my thoughts are as follows:
I purchased a Kinetica bundle pack from Dolphin Fitness which included a 5lb tub of Whey, 2 protein bars, 2 samples of Recovery, a shaker and they threw in a crisp bar as well. With the usual 5% discount they give it came to £39.
Prior to this, I was under the impression that Kinetica products were expensive but there are deals to be had. One such deal is 3 tubs for £99 (not at Dolphin) and I know in January, Affordable Supplements will add a free box of protein bars worth over £25 with a tub of Kinetica Whey. When comparing to my usual ON whey it is certainly worth considering as the profile is very similar.
76 Servings per tub
Value For Money 4/5 Banoffee was my choice of flavour and it's very nice. I've tried 21 different brands of protein powders and in the past I've found some that are too sickly and some that don't add enough flavouring, for my tastes anyway. Kinetica seem to have got it right with this one and I expect it to be one of their most popular flavours. I've tried mint choc, strawberry, chocolate and vanilla in sample form and the banoffee wins it for me.
Taste 4.5/5 but 3.5/4 for the other flavours mentioned
I can only take protein drinks in milk as my stomach doesn't seem to be able to handle rapid absorption so I was looking for a product that didn't require me to use 350ml of milk as some do. It gets expensive this way, I get a bit bloated and there is quite a bit of sugar in milk. This is where the Kinetica Whey is a winner, 150ml - 200ml is all I use and it mixes very quickly and easily. As a result it's not a thick consistency and is light on the stomach. I've only tried mixing in my blender and it needs just a couple of seconds to mix.
Mixability 5/5 The 30g serving contains 23g of protein (dependant on flavour, mint choc is lower) and 5.7g of BCAA's which is a higher dosage than ON whey. I tend to double scoop any protein I take as I aim to get around 55g of protein per serving including the milk post workout. The protein blend is their own trademark Biotein containing ultra filtered whey protein concentrate, cross flow micro filtered whey protein isolate, hydrolysed whey protein concentrate, in that order. It also has natural flavouring, free from artificial flavours and colouring (if that's important to some of you) There is a digestive enzyme called Aminogen in there as well and I must admit I have to be careful with bloating but this is fine on my stomach.
Usability 4.5/5 In summary, I'm pretty impressed and will probably use a few tubs of this over the coming months if prices remain affordable after they become an established brand. If you are going to try their products it appears now is a good time as they have clearly flooded suppliers with samples to get the brand name out there.
