Not for the recipes you see here. There is something in the pipeline though, something a little special.

Is it far off mate? - Sounds exciting!!

Hi,

I made iopeners Protein cake today fromthe following recipe -

Protein Brownies

400g fat free cream cheese (you can use 4% or 5% if you cant get this)
4 whole eggs
75g cocoa powder
100g plain whey
1/2tsp baking powder
pinch of salt
60 sweeteners dissolved in a egg cup with boiling water (i use splenda tabs)

1147 cals
42g fat
33g carbs
157g pro
9g fibre
Protein Brownies

These are amazing!!!!

I used Choc Mint Protein and my next batch later on is going to be with Rasberry Ripple.

Hats off to the iopener!!

definitely going to be making these soon

Instead of unflavoured whey, can I use choc flavoured whey and then use just a smaller amount of cocoa powder?

No idea. It depends on a few things out of my control right now.

Not a qualified chef no. I went to culinary school for a bit, but dropped out. Ive always had a natural knack for things like this and i understand the way ingredients work. So with that knowledge i can pretty much turn any recipe on its head.

Hi Gents,

Thumbs up to iopener for this one :)

Going to try this soon, went on the hunt for ingredients... Being in the Middle East no one had a clue what 'Quark' was.
I didnt even know myself! Was on the brink of buying margarine... For some reason i imagined Quark to be like Stork.

Anyway quick question, is cream cheese the nearest substitute for Quark?

Thanks :)

yes cream cheese is the medium i used mate.

If youre in the middle east they should do a sortve cream cheese which is made from yogurt, they usually call it Labneh.

Have just put this in the oven. Followed the recipe to the letter but have used banana whey as it was all i had. Put some orange extract in as well as i love choc orange flavours.

Will have to see how it comes out using banana whey!

Buzzer just gone on the oven!!!

I'll let you all know when it has cooled and i've eaten a piece.

Ian.

These are great! Just making another batch now.

I used drinking chocolate powder last time but this time i am using cocoa powder so i hope it will be a little less gritty.

Great recipe though.

i made these the other day. one thing to make sure is that you don't overcook them, id suggest doing the first half with foil over the top.  Also, the mix before cooking is better than any chocolate mousse ive ever tasted.  next time i'll make a modified version and eat it as a dessert.  top recipe

Have my first batch in the oven right now.  I added 20g more whey alongside 20g honey and 20g peanut butter

Looks great - but where's the Lo Carb bit?  For those of us on the Anabolic Diet, 20gs is two-thirds of the daily allowance

Well dont be such a greedy bugger and eat the whole thing

It is low carb, literally. No carb is another story entirely.

That and i think Pasquale is a hack anyway. You can get away with same results with 100g and under.

mine turned out v.dry, i'll alter the recipe somewhat.

Instead of 400g v.light soft cheese, could I split it so it's 200g along with 200g flour - to give it a more 'brownie' consistency?

Most likely you put too much whet in it Daari. If you want it to be more brownie like, up the fat or sugar content, or both.

Also, those who are coming out dry, do you have fan Ovens per chance?

Hi

just made these today. Mine were a little dry and i need a smaller tin instead of using a baking tray and making a large odd shaped biscuit...lol. Not bad though for a 1st effort. I used Quark and half spoon sugar as listed, with Nutrasport 90+. May have cooked them a little too long, 40mins on 140c fan oven, but any suggestions to make them a little more 'moist'? Would a little water/milk or honey help?

Thanks Daz

Ratty if you have a fan oven you need to drop the temperature and time according to your user manual.

if you are using quark , are you also using 5 eggs?
