Still got a year before he might be heading my way.... but then who know. LAtho maybe have us both in the same gym at the same time will be too much for the forces of nature to contend with

Posedown with DV: If I wasn't moving to his hometown then I'd be talking a lot of bullsh1t about now. However, I'm going to have to lose at least another stone and a half to get anywhere near his bodyfat levels!

7th March 2014
Legs
  • Low bar squats, oly shoes, beltless: 60 x 5, 5, 5; 100 x 5; Doubles: 120, 130, 140, 150, 160
  • High bar, oly shoes, beltess: Fives: 100, 110, 120, 130, 140
  • Quad extensions: Five sets of 8-15 reps
  • 45 deg leg press: 3p/s x 15; 4 x 15; 5 x 15; 6 x 10
  • Lying hamstring curls: 5 sets of 6-15 reps
  • Straightish leg deadlifts: 12 reps: 60, 80, 100, 120
  • Abs, stretches, 2 miles walk to the gym and back.
Hips felt tight on the low bar squats; probably because of first run for a while on Weds, but definitely feeling weaker now. 160 felt heavy which is pretty bad as I got 180: 3 x 3 two weeks ago. Still, loads of work, and my main goal is weight loss so not really disheartened. MAybe not landing that 240 dead is genuine..... non.

My back wasn't a fan of the leg press. Not much weight used, but didn't feel very nice in the back, even though it was pretty light on the legs. Will stick to hack squats.

Strength change has been quite odd. My pressing strength hasn't lost much at all, but I'm doing a lot more assistance leg work now and getting weaker. Legs are looking better with the weight loss though.

Another good week and time for some refuelling.

The good, the bad (and the ugly).... the mind games are starting but you're keeping focused on the main goal of the moment.

I find leg presses very hit and miss, one can be fine another can be horrendous, but I do find a steeper seat position more comfortable and not going too deep more back friendly. Still putting half decent numbers away tho

Leg press can be high danger tariff for backs. I'd either leave it well alone or use it as active stretching so you use a weight you can lower controlled whilst not letting your pelvis tuck under.
On the other hand your OH squats do all that anyway.

If you are doing a lot of squat volume, which you are, then I certainly don't see a lot of need for the leg press

Re:I'M A SHOWPONY, BABY! 2014/03/10 17:15:51 (permalink)
I only tried the leg press to see what it was like. I like hack squats (kind of) and feel them where I want to, so will stick with them.

Going to try something a bit different this week. Monday, Wed, Fri in the gym and Tuesday and Thursday sprints and cellar squats.

10th March 2014
Shoulders, triceps squats, bench
Strength down a bit today as been painting all weekend and today, so shoulders a bit down.
  • Military press, strict: 40 x 5; 60 x 5; 70 x 3; 80 x 5, 4, 4, 4, 3, 60pause x 10
  • Overhead squat: 40 kg: 5 x 5
  • Low bar, beltless, oly shoe squat: 60 x 5; 100 x 3; 110 x 3; 140: 5 x 5
Moving OH squats first was a good idea and speeds up the workout as it is the warm up for squats. For squats it is only 20 kg heavier than my light bench day and much, much harder. Need to build the volume back up.
  • Bench: 50 x 5; 90 x 5; 120: 5 x 5
  • Side lateral raises: 40lb x 12; 45lb/side x 12; 50lb x 10; 40 lb x 10
  • Tricep pull down: 4 x 8-15 reps
  • Overhead rope pulls: 4 x 8-12 reps
  • Abs, stretching, rotator cuffs
Good session on not much food.

Enjoyed my walk to and from the gym today. Will miss this place and the walk when I move.

All looking pretty respectable, bud. Nice river walk. We have a river here you know, a few 'rah rah' types rowing on it, but a nice stroll on a nice day

It's the Bridgewater Canal. I'll definitely miss the NW for the walking and scenery. From my house, I'm 90 mins from Lakes, 45 mins from Peaks, 90 mins from the Dales, 2 hrs from Snowdon. Not that I see it because all I seem to do is either work or paint the house.

Still, really looking forward to the move. Going to try and sell up as early as possible as, although Alty is going up in price, Cambridge is skyrocketing.

Tell me about it, I've pretty much written off buying. Don't earn enough to save and can't afford anything remotely close to Cambridge.

Anyway, Cambridge is 60mins from, erm, London and errrmmm 2hrs from, erm, London and back. Beautiful flat fenlad surrounds us tho, you can gaze for miles over flat fields with the occassional windfarm and scarecrow.

Stunning I tell ya

I'm looking forward to seeing more of London, and Cambridge itself is ace. Suffolk coast is great, but I've done that to death as well as the broads. North Norfolk is easier to get to from Cambridge as it is from Yarmouth so hoping to go there a fair bit, as well as the south coast.

Grange Road, no wonder, my old Private school is down there.... oh yes, hard to believe but as a nipper I was at a proper posh school (with Jeffrey Archer's kids FFS)

Then I went to a school in Haverhill - if I didn't know what bullying was before then I sure as hell did afterwards LOL

Price difference is mental tho

DV: Did you talk all posh? Hang on... do you talk all posh. No way. Please say way.

Wolfster: Defo. A run on the beach Rocky style is always awesome too.
Walking-near preferences is: Sea>River>Lake>DaKensta's stream>canal

11th March 2014
  • 10 incline sprints, double lamppost
  • High bar, beltless, oly shoes squats: 10 reppers: 25, 45, 65, 85, 105
  • Stretching and rolling
I can't believe how much the sprints stiffen my knees up. Those squats felt really tough. The weight didn't seem to make a difference. Form felt terrible, but I'm getting ripped and my cock is definitely looking bigger*

*Not at this moment.**

**hang on***
