Lot of work done before that 90 so a 92.5 as well was a good effort.
Goal still a BW press?

Ox: Doubt it, mate. Can't see me hitting it for a long while.

DV: You should. This is a pretty easy training as the squats are light, but plenty of work gets done. I'm a big fan of it.

Jed: Yeah, t'is what I want. Form needs some work, so 75kg 5 x 5 is the target, with a good pause on each rep. Will give 75 a go next week to see how I get on. My goal is 100 kg at 99Kg, but I want to drop a bit more weight that that (haven't lost any in a while now - recomp, defo recomp)

100kg at 99kg would be beautiful.

15th April 2014
Back and biceps
  • Beltless deads: 60 x 10, 5; 100 x 5; 140 x 2; 170 x 1; 190 x 1; straps: 207. 5kg  x 5, 5, 5, 5, 4
  • Lat pull down: 60 x 12; 75 x 10, 8, 8; 60 x 10
  • T-bar row: 2 plates, 5 x 20 reps
  • Preacher curl machine: 5 x 8-12 reps
  • Hammer curls on cables: 5 x 12 reps
  • Abs, rotator cuffs, stretching, walk in the sun after working in a room without windows all day
Well didn't get the reps on 207.5. Each set felt tough and the form on a few reps was staggeringly bad. Fifth rep would have been an almighty hitch. Really hard training, that. Deads still ain't what they were.

Some changes to plans. Away on Fri/Sat, walking in the Lakes so good for cardio, so think I'll do a bit of all over training on Friday. Last time I went walking a day after a hard leg sessions and kept falling over. Monday I'll do another all body workout, and then I'm to the UK's biggest light bulb to do some experiments for a week, so, if I've got time, I'll do some sprints, stretching and press ups and stuff.

Not far from getting those reps, pretty tough session start to finish.

I fell over after the leg press yesterday, was walking one of the 25kg plates to the 'tree' and I just buckled LOL

Strong session though mate, especially considering your current weight loss phase.

A nice little break by the lakes should be good for you too mate.

Close to 5x5 at that weight mate, won't take long, 5x5 deads are hard so don't be tough on yourself.

SQUAT - 190kg - AIM 227.5KG
BENCH - 150KG - AIM 160KG
DEADLIFT - 275KG - AIM 300KG
STRICT PRESS -  110kg - AIM 120KG

Re:I'M A SHOWPONY, BABY! 2014/04/21 15:23:57 (permalink)
Nice little break by the lakes....... Our first walk of the year was more of a mountain hike. We climbed Scafell, but not Scafell pike. Scafell is the second highest, but considerably more difficult. There were 100s of people on Scafell pike, which we could see in the distance, but about five on Scafell. Even managed to cause a teeny avalanche which scared the sh1t out of me. Hurt my knee on the way down too. Good trip though. Loads of beers and pub grub but cancelled out by the walking. 16 stone dead this morning, workout powered by my only Easter Egg.

Last weight session for a week as I'm off using the UK's biggest lightbulb (10 billion times brighter than the sun, so got my factor 25 with me) and will be doing press ups and sprints, rehab, etc, to at least do something. There are rumours of a weights room.....

Decided to go heavier today, but legs still a bit shaky in bits from the couple days walking. Knee felt ok.

  • Military press: Bar x 10; 40 x 5; 50 x 3; 60 x 3; 70 x 1; 80 x 1; 90 x 1; 95 x 1
PLeased with that. Was a Jedi-grinder. Must have been close to his 9.8 seconds, this one. 95 at 102 is my best BW lift, 93% vs 91% when I got the 100.
  • Low bar squats, no shoes, beltless: 60 x 8, 5; 100 x 3; Doubles: 120, 130, 140, 150, 160, Belt: 170
All felt heavy and horrible.
  • Bench, tng: 60 x 5; 100 x 3, 3; 120 x 1; 140 x 1; 152.5 x 1 PB; 100 x 20 PB
The 152.5 was a bit of a cheap PB, smooth enough, nice form, but would have liked it easier. 20 reps at 100 has eluded me for years!
  • Deadlifts: WITH BELT!: 60 x 8, 100 x 3; 140 x 2; 160 x 1; 180 x 1; 200 x 1; 240 x F
Intredasting. The belt made zero difference, but that's not what's intredasting. The 240 should be flying, but it really is this slight spasm on the left side (still) that's causing the problems. I can feel it when I take up the strain, and I believe I adjust the lift for lighter loads, but just do not try it when it gets heavy. It's definitely better, but I was pulling this for a triple just after the injury. Maybe another physio session, and a complete change in rep range or move to sumo for a bit. Not too bothered about deadlift numbers at the moment, not that I have a choice on the matter.

Fingers crossed for the weights room, and that I don't get killed by the lightbulb. Got a newbie coming with us who is comedy accident prone, although it might not be so comedy (for me)when I take radiation to the face and 'nads.

Glad you had a nice break, mate, never been up there but the Mrs loves it apparently.

Pretty decent session, pressing strength really is maintaining very nicely.

Good luck at the 'bulb'... or should it not be called a lamp. But how come when it's turned on it doesn't illuminate the entire planet. And who pays the leccy bil?

DV: If you haven't been to the lakes then it's a must-visit. My fav place in the UK.  As for who pays, the leccy bill...... you do. Cheers, buddy. http://www.diamond.ac.uk/Home/About.html

Ox: The 152.5 kg bench was a 3-second pause.

No it wasn't.
It says tng in the post. That was your punishment for not reading the text properly.

I definately will, at some point I'm sure I'll have no choice, I'd just love some weather reassurance LOL That sounds cool, I told my son about the light being 10bln x brighter than the sun and he thought it was awesome
