Low carb diet making me feel ill - 29 October 2009 18:39 ( #1 )
I'm using a diet which James made for me a couple of years ago and which worked well, although I did feel pretty rough a lot of the time the fat dropped off at aboput 1lb /week.
However,I relapsed into a **** lifestyle ,and am now trying it again, but I feel so bad it's unreal.I've never had such low energy levels,I feel like I'm about to pass out after a days work even after I added a slice of bread to my snack either side of lunch.I can put up with being hungry, but this spaced out feeling is something else.
Can anyone help me with some tips on getting through this,I've only got about a stone of weight to shift and don't mind losing a little muscle to get there quicker as I don't have much anyway.

Cheers

1) if you ride it for 7 days you should feel better as you adjust
2) low carb diets always make you feel crabby - especially at first!
3) james is the man to adjust the diet he made :)

While I wasn't training I used to have a pretty normal tea and miss out all the protein powder.Instead of the lean meat either side of lunch with the nuts I would have a slice of cooked meat from the deli on one slice of bread.

All I did on my first 2 days back was go out for a very gentle jog after work for less than 20 minutes I reckon, and I felt like death in the morning and super hungry all through the day.Finished work early yesterday and fell asleep for the rest of the afternoon and that seems to have stopped me sleeping last night making me feel even worse.

Is it a good idea to forget about weight loss in my case being as I'm only about a stone overweight, and concentrate on building up my fitness levels with plenty of running and a couple of days a week with a beginners weights prog?

I would go back to James ,as you said it was a few years now and things change.
It worked then so a new overhall of your training /diet  by James maybe the best thing to do.

Low carb diets are prone to this, especially if you aren't spreading the available carbs out evenly.
