As much as i want to see Shogun pull something out, he won't.
He has not had a decent fight in the UFC. Admittedly he has got better, but there is a huge gulf between Forrest/Coleman and Chuck and Machida. He would have to pull out a fight like the one against Rampage in Pride to get anything out of this one.

shogun was a monster in pride, remember, his fights in the uc were after a mega injury absense. now he has comethrough those, i can see him eing back to his aggressive best. (i hope!)

achida may well take advantage of that with his counter style, we shall see

If Shogun is back to his aggressive brutal Pride style of fighting after his knee surgery it is going to be a absolute cracker of a fight.

If that is the case though Machida by KO in the 3rd as Shogun barrels in on him....... You heard it here first!

i  really like machida style, prob not the best viewing and not too all tastes.  takes a lot of balls to fight your own fight and not go rushing in cos the crowd is booing you.  end of the day he hits and doesnt get hit thats perfection in my eyes.

machida 3rd rd KO!!!

Machida will win this easily I reckon. Would love to see Shogun do something but can't see it happening in this fight. He's looked a shadow of his former self so far in the UFC.

I am surprised at the 3rd round opinions, doubt it will go that far.
Yes Shogun has had mad surgery and as I said in the UFC he is getting better, but a half decent win against a past it Chuck in no way warrents him a title shot, or the potential for a win out of it.
They both came across well on UFC 104 Countdown. Defo recommend watching that before the event.

Machida 3rd TKO. Shogun will gas early in the round and Machida to capitalise and win via ground and pound.

I wouldn't say he is a shadow of his former self. You've got to remember he has had 2 knee reconstructions, the punch that he knocked Chuck down with was a thing of beauty, I think we will definitely see the old Shogun back tonight but even still I do think he will play straight into Machida's hands. 3rd round KO/TKO.

Re:Machida Vs Shogun - 24 October 2009 16:56 ( #20 )
Is it 5x5 rounds because its a title shot?? If so I doubt it will go anywhere near the judges tbh. If Shogun rushes machida he will get ktfo if machida allows shogun to settle and tried to trade with him Shogun will ko him. not sure how this will go but Machida has looked in excellent form lately. Shogun is dangerous though so cant rule him out should be a cracker me thinks.

I want shogun to win just to mix the division up :D
