I think its up near 200kg, Way to big for me to handle, I only wanted it to be 100kg LOL, would like to swap for lighter stone or free to a good home, The stone is not 100% round slightly flat bottom. Mods i hope this is ok to post as not actually selling the stone

Nice effort mate, too heavy for me at the moment too so can't help. Out of interest what size mold did you use for a stone of that weight?

Jeff45 could you use a space hopper for a mould? Most usually use a beach ball mate, space hopper probably too big. From what i've read a 18" beach ball makes a 100kg ball.

I used a Swiss ball to make it, Put plaster all over the ball and let dry for a day or two. I didn’t think at the time how heavy the plaster would be on the Swiss ball and that squashed the bottom of it. Next time i will do the base first and let that dry nice and hard before covering the rest. Then cut a hole in the top let the Swiss ball down (deflate) and take it out. James, I used 10 bags of post mix at 20kg a bag to fill the plaster cast so i thought it must be up around the 200kg mark, Correct me if I’m wrong, also the Swiss ball was a 65cm in diameter. So when you in the gym next guys go to the Swiss ball area and find the 65cm ball to give you an idea of the size of it, My misses said it looks like the moon in the garden and she is shore it has its own gravity.

Lol! Thats the same size as the one i made a few years back, as i was making it i realised it was going to be far too big! Made a good garden ornament anyway! I'm just about to make a 100kg ish one using a 18" beach ball, from what i read this should be better, we'll see! Did you find that post crete stuff better than normal concrete mix? I was considering using that myself.

Yes mate the postcrete worked well and was so easy to use, Dont know how strong it is though. You might want to add some hardener to the mix

nathan2010 how much did it cost to make it? It cost around £65 the postcrete was on Special on at the time i bought it, i did also get some hardener to put in the mix, that comes it little packets of powder but im sure you can get it in liquid form too, I used the postcrete as it is simple to use just add water and a 25kg bag of plaster

I did think of putting in one of them cheap plastic footballs like the ones you get at the beach to make the stone lighter but the diameter would still have been to big to get my arms round it. Was just thinking. If you wanted to make a smaller Atlas stone in diameter but keep the weight higher adding lead to the stone would achieve this. In theory you could have say 5 stones all the same diameter but still going up in weight buy adding a lead ball inside, maybe going as big as a bowling ball. Just need to work out how to make a lead bowling ball now, God knows what the misses will say when i start buying up scrap lead.
