In reality, of the thousands of men you have been with, how many times have you bagged up? Serious question. A rough percentage will do.

chin: You have inspired me. Actually, over the past few days and in response to the questions on here I've been revising my workout plan, as it is ready to be shaken up a bit anyway, and only earlier on I was thinking about a leg workout, but then not really giving it much thought... I'll go and think more carefully about it later on and work it into my plan. In fairness, my legs aren't too bad, and my backside is good enough to film ;0) Even so, its not unheard of for me to have legs on show too, in a club, so I'd better not neglect them and end up with skinny sparrow legs and a disproportionate top half as that always looks just plain weird.

Murphy: Love them. In terms of favourite songs either-  There Is A Light That Never Goes Out (IMO one of the most beautiful songs ever written) or This Charming Man. Actually, there are a few I could choose from but these two top the list.

Redman: I don't know what you mean by 'bagged up'- can you explain?

Odyysey: No contest. The alcohol would go. I'm not a big drinker, I get horrible hangovers from very little and feel far, far worse than I ever do after drugs. Even though I tend to be a happy drunk, I am a happier tw*tted person. Give me tw*tted people any day over drunk people. Far happier, far nicer to be around, friendlier, etc. And the music tends to be more to my taste.

Sorry it means wear a condom.

oh if he means using condoms, thats easy. Almost all is the answer. Until 'recent events', it never occurred to me to not use them. I (like most people on the scene, from what I can tell) worked on the principle that somoene is positive until you find out otherwise. I have stopped using them in relationships, after testing only, and then a couple of years ago I had an FB and we were both recently tested so we stopped using them, but other than that, always. I never went 'oh sod it' and just couldn't be bothered, or acted in a cavalier manner about it. So much so that a lot of my friends were stunned when I told them about my diagnosis. Since diagnosis, I have chosen to not 'bag up' with other positive guys who are up for that.

Interesting, is this 'safe sex' practice the norm amongst gay men?

Im only asking as i always presumed that none of you ever did use protection...

As far as I know condom use is the norm. It was always my experience that it was, and was just a given that you'd be using condoms. Sure, there are some guys that don't, or some people who are a bit hit and miss about it  and also people are people and sometimes they slip up or go 'sod it' or whatever, but personally, I was always comfortable with how I was in my use of them. I've been in some complete states before, but it really was never an issue.

I think many straight blokes have the belief that gay fellas throw it about everywhere with little consideration. Imo, the way a lot of gay celebrities support hiv charities only adds to this.

Well, a lot of gay guys do 'throw it about everywhere', although  I can assure you there is indeed consideration.If that wasn't the case then the infection rates would be much, much higher than they are.  I always have condoms, lube and a cock ring in my jacket pocket, and have done for as long as I can remember. Condoms and lube are freely available in gay venues throughout the UK, and there are always posters and leaflets all over the place, so the message is kept in people's minds.

I don't get the thinking behind the train of thought:   gay celebrities -> HIV charities- > 'they are all into barebacking'. I would have thought its because most gay men in big cities will have friends who are affected by HIV, so they've seen it first hand.

If that's your exerience, that's your experience. I can't argue with that. I can assure you though, things generally aren't like what you imagined they were in reality.

You can include me on this barrage of people lol. So many assumptions, so many stereotypes. People will practice safe or unsafe sex irrespectively of their sexual orientation.
Remember, there are shocking numbers of unwanted pregnancies in Britain and Chlamydia is rife.

Yes, I know. and No, I don't hate him. I take my share of responsibility and can't put all that on someone else. Some of my friends who know the circumstances think that I have every right to be raging, but that's just not who I am or what I'm about.

What is my type? Over 30,  lean, good definition, shaved head, tattoos, cheeky smile and uncut. Quite partial to a bit of facial hair too. Is there anyone here? I can't say I've seen that many face pics to tell. I would imagine there'd be a fair few who I would. You're welcome to send me pics and we can discuss this in private, if you want ;0)

Very true. My perception (which could be very inaccurate) is that condom use is more commonplace amongst gay men and certainly a lot more than I understand it to be amongst straight people. Obviously that's speaking 'on the whole' and only on the basis of conversations I've had, and could be wildly off the mark, but I suspect its true.

Incidentally, despite my sexual excesses, until I hit the jackpot (so to speak), I managed to skate by without catching STI's. Well, I had NSU once, and no one I'd been with in the previous six weeks had it, so who knows, but really I think in light of the amount of sex I'd had and with that many people, I managed to be quite lucky in that respect for a long time. I think that speaks volumes about my history of 'bagging up' (what a horrible phrase that is. it sounds like smackheads dividing up their gear, or putting coins from the coppers jar into bags for the bank)
