*** Members' interview with bigjack *** 19 November 2009 12:20 (permalink)
This week bigjack  is happy to answer your questions.

The usual things apply: please use this topic to ask him any questions about  lifestyle, training, diet and progress, or anything else.  Please, nothing too personal or invasive. Please bear with him and give him time to reply.

Jack, thanks for agreeing to take part in this interview. A few questions from me to start with:

1) Can you give us a brief rundown of how you got into working out and how long you've been training?

2) Are you still planning on competing in the BNBF next year, how long will you diet for?  Post some photos up if you can please?

3) What is your day job?

4) Favourite music and film?

Thanks!!

Hi Hazel no problem thanks for askin me.

I got into training about 2 1/2 years ago, the usual skinny teenager looking to get a little bigger but i had no intrest in bodybuilding. I friend of mine who was a succesful natural bodybuilder saw how i was growing and put a programme together for me and measured my progress, eventually i outgrew him and the gym so the rest is history.

In terms of competing it is defo something im wanting to do, originally i was looking at jan next year but certain things in my personal life are causing me to put the date back slightly to summer. A friend of mine again who used to compete is going to be doing my prep for me as i dont have a clue how to get ready for a show.

For my dayjob i work in sales for an insurance company, its one of the only halal based insurance companies that cater for the muslim cumminity. I enjoy it as much as i can, but at the end of the day its work and it pays the bills lol.

My favourite film would be American gangster and i like all sorts of music, in particular lionel richie and michael jackson. Not your typical 20year old answers!

good question mate, im only 5 weeks into the job so im not 100% myself haha.

Its to do with the muslim faith, they dont agree with gambling etc and dont agree that you should make any money from insurance. So in a nutshell rather than a standard insurance company taking your premium and investing it all over the place, we take the premium and put it in a 'takaful pot' which is basically where all the customers premiums go and at the end of the year this is distributed back to the customers.

                  Im 5ft 10 and currently 17st 10.

Its hard to pick a fav exercise, it would have to be something for chest as i like training it, maybe incline press.

When i started training i was the same height i am now and 10 1/2 stone ish iirc.

cheers. I never said im massive, but i am natural lol. Im very very tempted to try aas, but with me wanting to compete i want to do it naturally for a while. See what happens. But the temptation is hard.

17 stone 10 at 5ft 10 and you're pretty ripped in your avi, are you about that bodyfat % now??? and all that at 20 is impressive. Yeah do what ever route you want, the thing with bodybuilding is that you can compete to a much later age than other sports, you've pretty much got an extra 10 years. Well compared to football, rugby, athletics and tennis etc

So how good are your big 3 lifts then?

My bf is a little higher now, i was around 17st in my avi, and although i will have added some muscle in that 6 months, some is fat. The thing with aas is once you've made the first jab, your no longer a natural, which is what is putting me off bigtime as i want to compete natural.

My big 3 are nothin special, I bench 120kilos for 6 reps, squat 150kilos for 8-10reps, Dont do deadlifts in my routine but last time i did them i did similar squat for a few reps. Im a bodybuilder not a powerlifter so poundage doesnt bother me, asthetics do.

To develop the physique in your avi in 30 months naturally from 10 stone is almost an unbelievable achievement mate. I am sure you will have doubters about your natural status which you should of course take as a big compliment.

I have no set daily diet but to give you an idea of what i eat this is todays food:
                                    8.30am - Bowl of oatmeal, 2 eggs
10.30am - tin of rice pudding, protein shake
1pm - large rump steak with large potato salad
                                    3pm - 100g of peanuts
                                    5pm - Bowl of oatmeal
7pm - 2 large salmon fillets, 1 large baked potato and french dressing
9.30pm - large rump steak with small bowl of oatmeal
11.30pm (now) - 2 chicken breast, 2 slices wholemeal toast and tomato sauce

Cardio wise i walk my dog for 1 hour a day. Although not hard cardio i break a sweat and it gets my heart rate up.

Regarding the doberman rather you than me lol.

First: That's you in your avi? And you've been training for 2 and a half years? Natural? My god... kinda shocked tbh, that's insanely impressive!

                                        1. What's your favourite routine that you've tried over the years?
                                        2. What's your favourite food? (Bulking food, not cheat meal!)
