*** Members' Interview with ginasmg*** - 22 October 2009 13:51
This week member ginasmg, who has been a member for four years, has kindly agreed to be interviewed.

The usual things apply: please use this topic to ask him any questions about  lifestyle, training, diet and progress, or anything else.  Please, nothing too personal or invasive. Please bear with him and give him time to reply.

ginasmg, thanks for agreeing to take part in this interview. A few questions from me to start with:

1) Can you give us a brief rundown of how you got into working out and how long you've been training?

2) What is your day job?

3) What motivates you to keep training?

4) What is the last film you saw and what rating would you give it?

Thanks!!

Hi mt,
Thanks hazel for this opportunity.

1) Can you give us a brief rundown of how you got into working out and how long you've been training?
I have been training for around 4 and a half years now,the reason i got into lifting was to increase my strength as i have a disabled daughter(cerebal palsy) she has to be lifted at certain times, and the older she got obviously the heavier she has become, when she falls i need to be able to pick her up.i searched around on the internet and found mt,i havent looked back.
2) What is your day job?
Im my daughters primary carer.
3) What motivates you to keep training?

Being able to help initially and formost, but i do like to look reasonably good for the sake of my children,i wouldnt want them to be embarrased about
 how their dad looks.

4) What is the last film you saw and what rating would you give it?

Incredible hulk lol great film for all the family,i dont realy watch too many films tbh,i dont have the patience to sit still for long at all.i do like short series though such as csi etc etc etc. thanks.

Hi AK-88,
Do you have any other children?

Yes i have 6 children.

What does mrs ginasmg do for a living?

Mrsginasmg is also a full time carer.

Why did you leave us for so long?

Now and again life throws these little bundles at you that will knock you for 6,this happend to me last year and i was diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder.shortly after.
Went on medication and its has eased the situation, but now and again it resurfaces in my mind and i am unable to cope,i missed you all whilst away, and its good to be back, thanks mate.

Massive respect for why you started training mate, can't imagine how it must be to be a full time carer. Must be quite stressful, but I don't think you'd have it any other way.

First question that comes to mind is, what is your favourite exercise?

Hey there what is your favorite cheat meal? And what is your favorite healthy meal.

Also do you prefer cats or dogs, and why?

And every credit to you for looking after your daughter full time must be really difficult, do you feel the NHS etc have enough resources for parents in your situation?

p.s because your name starts with gina i always thought you were female

Hi mate,a false accusation was the cause, but id rather not go into any more detail.

My board name is made up of members of my family lol not a saturday night thing(but thanks for the idea lol)

beast lifts...bench 140kgs for 4 reps(if i go over that i ALWAYS suffer injury
Deads...260kgs for 5 reps
I dont squat as i have a fused disc and i dare not risk injury.
My lifts are far more moderate now i have to say,i work with lower weights but have found i can increase stamina/strength without going too heavy.

What were your reasons for leaving the army? What yr did you leave? What regiment were you in? and how long did you serve for?

Other then family, what makes you happy?

Have you always lived in Yorkshire?

Would you consider emigrating if the opportunity arose?

Do you follow many sports?

What were your reasons for leaving the army? What yr did you leave? What regiment were you in? and how long did you serve for?
I was geting bored with all the cuts, postings were being canceled etc etc,i left in around 1990,i was in the raoc (royal army ordnance core),and i served 7 years.

Other then family, what makes you happy?

i like to have a bet on the horses, and i love building things,im quite creative in this regard.but tbh im quite a happy person generally.

Have you always lived in Yorkshire?

no not always,my army days away made me see more of the world and never realy moved back,i reside in birmingham now where my wifes family are, reason being i was an international hgv driver after i left the army,so best to settle where her parents were.i would move back there tomorrow tbh i love the place.

Would you consider emigrating if the opportunity arose?

i used to say no i wouldnt, but after my experiances with the law and its unfairness, and the way things are going in this country,i think i would now.

Do you follow many sports?

yes i follow boxing closley, and cross country events, marathons etc etc.

Hi mate,
I have no complaints about the support we have had(although we have had to fight tooth and nail) to get it.
No problems with the nhs at all tbh, they have been brilliant even when my daughter with downs syndrome had to have a major operation on her heart(3 holes and 2 leaking valves) to save her life, nothing could have been better, they were fantastic and but for the good services of the nhs she would certainly have died.
Social services are a complete joke and cause families more problems than they fix. thats my experiance anyway, and many of the families me and mrsginasmg help.
I do however have one issue with local goverment with the help/support i recieve,i am the carer of my own girl and get a certain amount of money for that(i am employed)
However if i went out into the comunity to be a carer for someone else i would recieve litraly twice what i get now. this in some ways seems unfair.
but it balances out as i have the time with her.
If someone was to come to my home as the carer for my child it would cost 3 times as much as it does for me to care for her.as i say not a complaint but a point.

Thanks for your reply. I think it's a shame at having to jump through so many hoops to get what you are entitled to.

My aunt and uncle have had to do exactly the same for every single thing my cousin has needed for 30 years. She needs 24/7 care although i would struggle to remember the details of her condition.

Yes mate im forever helping other families with their entitlements and its getting worse,One of my neighbours needed wheelchair access to his house,(his disability had got relay bad and he became wheelchair bound) he asked social services for help and made an appointment to see them, when they came to assess him which took 3 months they then said the work would be done in 2 YEARS TIME wtf.
I concreted him a ramp in there myself (he insisted he paid).point is he needed it badly as he couldnt get into or out of his house.thats the kind of thing families are having to endure now im afraid.
