Milk Thistle Making Me Itch

Feels like I've grabbed a hand full of nettles.  Anyone else itch when taking this stuff?

Only taking 700mg a day.

Does Liv52 have similar side effects?

    Nope.

been taking Milk Thistle for months with nothing like that.

You're not taking Beta Alanine per-chance are you?

    Holland and Barrett stuff

I've noticed a flare of hard lump like spots, but with no puss or juice either, lol.

Think I might stop using it.

Milk thistle should cause this.  Nor should Liv52.

What else are you using supplement wise?

    Tesco branded Vit C+Zinc,
    Vit D,
    Vit B Complex,
    Multivit and Iron.

Holland & Barrett branded Choline Insitol, Omega 3, Green Tea, Kelp, L-Carnitine (but I very rarely take this) due to:

T3, just tapering off on the last few tabs.

Holland & Barrett 175mg has been the only new addition in months. I've also just clicked that it could be a reason why my Asthma has flared up and I have a tight chest all the time.

    Taking oral T-bol 40mg a day.

Woke up this morning and noticed a rash on my right shoulder also.

Odd.  Not heard this before.  Have you changed your washing powder?  Been sleeping with dodgy women? LOL

Itching is a known side effect but if you have a rash and respiratory issues as well as itching then I would stop taking ASAP.

People allergic to kiwi sometimes have trouble with milk thistle.

Cheers guys, well hadn't changed washing powder and only sleeping with my fiancee, lol.

I've stopped taking it, no new itching, breathing is alot better and the rash has gone.

Funny you should mention kiwi, that gives me breathing issues.

I'm going to read into Liv52 I think, silly of me to not to read about side effects of a herbal remedy before taking it really.

Also, as a bit of FYI - I had a bump form on the back of my hand and looked identical to a bump from a sting from a thistle.

Sounds like you need to give kiwis and also artichokes a miss then, these and thistles are in the same family jaster maybe (? have a google, can't remember the name).

It does sound that you are an allergenic type person maybe.  There may be something in the ingredients as opposed to the milk thistle itself, or interesting point from Drew which I had not heard before.

LIV52 should be ok - there's info on them here: http://www.himalayaheal...m/products/liv_syrup.htm
and they're for sale here: http://www.muscletalk.co.uk/fb.ashx?m=3733718

Kiwi is a fairy common food allergy but I don't know if it is a reaction to the compound or compounds common to all in the asta family of plants which includes milk thislte, common thistle artichokes and kiwi that might give the reaction to all of these, if you see what I mean

That's the long way round of saying that just because you have problems with one you may have problems with the other but those who have problems with milk this. have problems with the rest.

That said though I wouldn't want to try any other brands to be sure as the reaction may get worse.
