do you think taking an interest in your health and lifestyle through bodybuilding actualy helped you in managing your illness?

or if you werent bodybuilding do you think you wd ave gone blindly down the med route on the advice on docs?

i have similar feel about the numbers thing in hospital( i.e. pateints being looked upon as cattle)  its only when u been there you can really understand its you that has to look after yourself an no one else.  i used to think you went into hospital and they made you better.  but you really do have to be active in your recovery or u may not give yourself the best chance, whatever your prognosis

do you think taking an interest in your health and lifestyle through bodybuilding actualy helped you in managing your illness?

I think because I've always been strict about my eating habits it was maybe a little easier changing to suit the condition, if it was never diagnosed I'd probably be one harping on about hard gainers - yes it is hard, but manageable to a certain extent.  As my weight increases though it does get harder as my MB seems to increase with my bodyweight - the specialist just thinks is in correlation with muscle mass, I'm sure if I did not weight train my MB would be lower.

or if you werent bodybuilding do you think you wd ave gone blindly down the med route on the advice on docs?

Possibly the fact I hate taking any form of tablets would have made me just as obnoxious and anti meds in the Docs eyes.  I just hated the thought of being dependant on a drug that up until recent my body although hard work (through my own commitments) managed quite well.  Also while I was ill I had a reaction to the base on certain antibiotics, that saw me rush back to A&E in a rather spectacular fashion - not pretty.

i have similar feel about the numbers thing in hospital( i.e. pateints being looked upon as cattle)  its only when u been there you can really understand its you that has to look after yourself an no one else.  i used to think you went into hospital and they made you better.  but you really do have to be active in your recovery or u may not give yourself the best chance, whatever your prognosis

I have to say and really thank the nurses and junior staff, who were amazing, they could not do enough for me - admittedly there comes a point when you all think you are never getting out accept in a wooden box and everyone starts changing.  Nurse visits last more than 10 mins and someone seems to be along every fifteen to make sure you have everything, can I plump a pillow, more water - do you think you could possibly consume one of those anorexic shake things today Mr Green (barf).

The docs on the other hand seemed about as warm, flat and inviting as a witches tit!  Maybe they just see too many people to take a more active and personal view, or maybe they see so much death they try to stay as unattached as they possibly can?  It must be difficult for them, a number first possibly, a human lab rat second.

Thank you, I certainly did not feel awesome in the Feb 07 pics - fatigue is still a big problem, even now as I certainly have no where near the energy I used to have.  However I'm a lot bloody older than I used to be as well, plus my cardio has never fully recovered either, I'm probably the unfittest in my life!!

I weighed in July 07 at 69kg which I think is approx 10 stone 12lbs, so I may have been less in the Feb pic on the left, probably - I could not face looking at the scales and almost cried when I saw the image.

I stepped back in the gym Oct 16th 07 (the date is imprinted on my mind) and I weighed myself around 73k.  11 months later the pics on the right were taken because it was coming up to a year, and in the pics on the right I weighed 100k or 15 stone 10lbs.

I'm 6' 1" and as far as I know that has not changed at all

The piercing is a breeze, its the healing time after that can be annoying and quite painful - pain, no problem, I quite like it

yes i totaly agree.  god i sound like an ungreatful git now!!  i didnt mean to come accross like that.  the nurses and all junior staff were awesome for me too.  they really went the extra mile for me.  and im still friends with some of them now.

i had a bad time with the doctors i think they assume there the only one with access to journals and medical literature.  they wd always assume i knew nothing and they knew best.  ok they prb do kno alot more but on occasions told me blatant lies about the treatments that were availible.  luckily i got refered to one of the best consultants in his field and he really does care and show compassion.  if it werent for him i think i wd be very ill right now.   the other docs wanted to chop bit out of me but i refused until i got second opinion.

Re:*** MuscleTalk Members Interview Peagreen *** 2008/11/25 14:06:25 (permalink)
Rothko, hmmm, an interesting artist, not one of my favourites - could you not have put forth Kandinsky for more of an interesting colour palette, other than the reds, brown and blacks Rothko seemed to favour in his later works which is what I seem to remember him for.

I preferred his early work, which had a greater depth and associated colour stroke, the later abstract work tended to seem muddied to me - maybe another case of eyesight disruption that many artists suffer in their older years.  Bigger canvases, yielding more muddied paint - not my favourite - sorry.

Both Kandinsky and Rothko were Russian I believe, did they both not end up in America?  Art history seems a little fuzzy, its been a long time.  My first Rothko was viewed in London but I saw a few at Washington's National Gallery, is this a pointer towards an exhibition coming to the Tate in London next year JK?

Rothko's on at the Tate right now.

Some folks have orgasms over it, but frankly I'm sceptical.

I'm pretty certain twenty minutes with a big white wall, a big tin of burgundy emulsion and a paint roller and really anyone could knock one up.

But I might be wrong about that. I don't know. Do you?

RE: your pics, the change of lighting works a treat, as does the removal of the chest fuzz.

A tip for all members participating in the Shape-Up. If you feel progress hasn't gone as well as planned, a quick waxing job plus sorting out the lighting for your photos will go some way towards making your progress appear much better.

(This tip is applicable for the ladies too. )

Spam indeed - could have started your own thread Lord Cheesey and directed the viewers to the thread instead, cunning but a lot more sensible.

However as you have nothing to say, delete these spam messages at once heathen!!
